Why do you expect that they don't?

Maybe because evolution means passing on genes to the next generation and not just changing whenever there are needs that must be addressed? The Galapagos islands are the best example of this. Flocks of finches would somehow get to the other island. The ones with beaks most fitting to get food passed on their genes until all the finches on one island had a stronger beak for cracking nuts, and all the finches on another were more suited to eating bugs.

if you're asking if destroying a nuke would set it off, then the answer is no. nukes work via complex nuclear fission reactions, which have to be initiated in a very specific way.

I believe that IF there was a God, it is not any God that any religion the world has ever came up with. It simply began the universe and then left, the little details of its creation are of little interest to it.
I prefer to believe the simpler answer though, that there is no God.

well, that depends on what you consider the "Earth."

take the planet Venus for example: Venus used to be just like the Earth, but due to an excess of CO2, the planet heated up out of control, and no longer has any water, which prevents plate tectonics. without plate tectonics, the built up energy under the surface has to be released via planet-wide volcanism.

if we fuck up the atmosphere even just a little bit, we'll set up a chain reaction that will destroy the Earth as we know it. sure, our ball of rock will still float through space in orbit around the Sun, but it won't be what we consider the "Earth"
