I don't find it fair to be a Grammar Nazi towards non-native speakers, and from the looks of it i'd bet that's what is going on. (that'd be the usage of the definite article in Spanish and other romance language, for example)

What you said sounded weird too. If you say "nor" you sould also say "neither" (and visa versa)
Like this:
"Neither do I care nor is my grammar perfect"

I don't care about peferect grammer but one thing I hate is people who don't have perfect grammer trying to correct other peoples grammer.
