There are 22 sections of the contest, and the winners of each section will be sent into space together. Moot is winning one section, and last I checked: some dude on funnyjunk the site voted for is in first for another section.

He made a piece of content begging the people of funnyjunk to vote for him, saying that he will be the first man to be sent into space with a banana-suit: and that he will hold up a sign reading "Funnyjunk" when he's there. He was 2500 votes ahead of 2nd place if I recall.
