I was actually trying to lose some weight, but reading your two comments made me re-think that decision.

I foresee some delicious cake in my not too distant future.

This reminds me of something. Even though we're small... The human race has the ambition to reach for those stars. We have the courage to chase after them, conquer them, then look for a greater challenge. We're small, but, we're powerful.

That's because you have a strickly human perspective. If you raise the perspective even a notch, we're suddenly insignificant again. We're just the result of life following it's own rules of breed and survive. Just matter and life interacting, changing, thinking and dreaming of reaching those stars. We ask silly questions like 'why are we here', thinking we're special because we have the ability to ask the question. We're just here. Small or big, stupid or smart, powerful or weak. It doesnt really matter, and we wont know what we are for sure. We have nothing but ourselves as reference frame.
User avatar #18 to #9 - charagrin (01/22/2013) [-]
Standard human-centric ideology. Why are we special? Why are we unique? What if we are one of a million million races reaching for the stars spread out across all of space/time? What if out of all those possible races, WE are the monsters? Look around you, look at our history. Do you really think WE are the shining light?
User avatar #32 to #18 - facedodge (01/22/2013) [-]
You are right... we are monsters. Kill yourself and do the universe a favor then.

We are pathetic, aren't we? But still. Even if we aren't alone, we dream big. Yes, we had problems in the past, but didn't at least some bring us a brighter future? If you don't think we are important in the long run, think smaller. There are\were a lot of bright men that mean more or less to us, for bringing us something we now enjoy\then enjoyed. And if it isin't that they broght joy, they brought us knowledge .

But our views about ourselves is biased. maybe in the greater scheme of things we are the LEAST capable among any other races that may exist. Maybe other races will view us as we view bugs. Something that invades, destroys, takes, and must be eliminated for the greater good. And I believe they may very well be right if they do.

But hottest?
User avatar #68 to #53 - maid (01/22/2013) [-]
Yees, the CERN Super collider is the hottest place known to man and thus is it the hottest place in the universe as we know. It is 10,000,000,000,000 degrees Celsius.

The temperature of a super nova is around 100,000,000,000 degrees celsius.
