I'm afraid (as funny as this is) it's false. Sun Tzu has proved in his own battles that taking the initiative and going on the offence (rather than building defence) is the best thing to do (there are of course rules to this, but it's just best in general). Life also proves it, whenever you step up to go on the offensive during X action, you usually come out with the best result. The same with problems, the sooner you do them the easier they are, or even in your standard chess match, if you're white (move first) your chances of winning are literally increased by 7-10% only by taking the initiative. Don't believe me? Try it, try them all and see how much taking the aggressive stance with such things helps

Yes... the force of a punch would stagger you... the plate stops any cuts and piercing wounds from weapons, but the force is still carried through. Like Body Armour, if you get shot, you still get knocked back by the force of the bullet.
