I remember building my first rig last year. I collected all the part over time as I ordered them one by one. I spent about two hours carefully putting everything together since it was my first time ever. I clicked the power button and saw the lights in the tower kick on and was immediatley filled with pride ... *10 minutes later*... Still just lights and fans running with no hint of activity. (Gif is MFW) After having a mild panic attack since I got my motherboard on a open box (no returns) deal. I calmed down and after process of elimination realized I forgot to plug in a main power cable to a part of the motherboard. Everything worked perfect after that derp moment. I have since then built a crossfire rig flawlessly for someone else. I share my story for anyone that actually cares to read. I assume this will still warrant at least one "cool story bro" either way.

I'm actually trying to save enough money to build a decent gaming pc that will last me at least like 2-3 years before it's outdated. Any clue what that would run me?

One time I accidentally dropped my cpu and the pins hit the case.
Spent 3 hours with needle nose pliers straightening the hundreds of pins
MFW it worked after I installed it

To me one of the best sounds in the world is that console beep when you start your computer up for the first time. That console beep basically says to me " **** ***** , you did it! You managed to not **** up!"

Scumbag OP, claims he built a PC, doesn't post pics/stats! Just finished mine today too, installed the liquid cooler, mine final upgrade that was a xmas present. My life is now complete (for about a month or so until I rebuild the who thing again 8).

My Build...
Gigabyte 990UFX-UD3 mobo
AMD x6 1045t @ 4.6Ghz
XSPC rs360 cooling kit w/ primochill flex tubing
G Skill Ares 1866Mhz 16gb RAM
EVGA 550ti 2GB x2 in SLI
Thermaltake 600w PSU
LG Blu Ray reader/writer
Corsair Force GT 120GB SSD / Two standard media drives at 250GB each
Windows 7 Ultimate (adding mac and linux in tri-boot config just because I can soon)
NZXT Phantom Full Tower with custom window cutout

550ti's actually work great, waiting for the 700 series for my next GPU and possibly the AMD piledriver CPU. Post your builds, funny junkers!

I placed the CPU wrong in the socket and ended up frying an Intel i5 2500K and MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) motherboard....

That was the story of my first build.

Anyway, my second build is far more awesome!

- i5 3570K
- Sabertooth P67
- GTX 660ti
- No SSD , as I am a poor man
