Ricky Barry did his free throws underhanded. Looked silly doing it, but he made 89.3% of them. Only 2 guys have a higher % in the NBA.

If you airball a free throw, the other team gets it automatically. He would have had to hit the rim for that plan to work

He's not a professional. Those are both college teams. They're all college kids at midmajor schools. AKA Amateurs.

Regardless of the fact it is a college team, he should definitely know the rules. i was only in high school basketball and know that you need to hit the rim.

If you've never run that play before why would you need to know that rule?

Because it is a very basic rule. We were taught it within our first two practices, which focus on learning rules so you don't screw yourselves in a game. If that was considered a play, I would sure hope the coach would have told him to hit the rim, else that college coach should stop coaching basketball.

I played in Peewie up through high school and never knew that rule, and never really thought about it. But I never had to intentionally miss a free throw. I figure it's the same for this guy.

That actually bothers me, since in all my years of basketball my coaches focused on rules very heavily, and to never actually be taught a rule that could actually be very important at any given time seems like blatant disregard for needed player knowledge.

im sorry but there is no way that was on purpose. there were 11 minutes left in the game, there would be no reason for him to intentionally miss, and i think a division one basketball player would know that the ball must touch the rim for it to become live

I supposed he could have gone without saying "thumbwhore", but he's more or less right. I mean, people on here complain to no end about reposts and how people don't make OC. The comment section is the same. I'm not saying we should do away with pictures. I like the pictures, but then there are assholes who will do nothing but roll pictures and half the time it's something stupid that I wonder how it got originally posted to begin with, and more than half the time it's the same picture over and over of the same pony. I'm just saying, if you want to be part of a (supposedly) funny website community, you should try and add to the humor with something new. If he does that, then pictures will come, and he can add to his funny (hypothetically speaking)

I'm not going to sit here arguing with you over whether or not pictures equal more thumbs, but you and I both know it makes a difference.
