The sides move faster

It's a lot simpler than you are making it seem to be

Pretty sure the reason is because the outside is closer to the camera, making the sides move faster, and the middle moves slower, because it's further away.

So, you're trying to say, 'Outside=brain registers faster', 'Middle=brain registers slower'?

I am almost 100% sure that it would be the other way round, because, you know, we have our eyes centered, being able to see objects in the middle of our sight better, for hunting, you know? More clearly than to the side, like prey animals. Y/N?

Take this for an example;
You are in the back seat of a car. You look right, everything is speeding past. You look ahead, it seems like you aren't going very fast at all.

The first sentence states if your hands or fingers are on the outside, meaning YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE MIDDLE, your brain has alot of time to register it surroundings.

Just like comment #18 told you, the sides of the gif PHYSICALLY move faster, nothing about how fast or slow your brain registers things.
