what? the forces does balance. You just break the thrust into two vectors, one for Fg, for for drag. Torque of the main rotor is balanced by the tail rotor. I don't see any problem with the forces.

The only problem that this won't work is that the propeller is extremely fragile, and would probably snap off the main rotor after it hit the first victim

Blade is at a 45* angle here so:
Thrust = Vector at an approximately 45* angle using the horizon line as the X.
The helicopter would have to move forward very fast to create the required energy to generate the lift to keep it in the air. Because virtually all of the energy from the blades are going into the vector described above, not purely against the gravitational force. And if it wasn't, it would be falling and crash.

we are talking about forces here, energy has nothing to do with this situation.

Also, the force of thrust of the blades can be made so that the component down balances the force of gravity, the heli would simply be moving forward using the horizontal component of the thrust in this case.

The .gif seems to me like it's going fast enough to validate the lift, though, so I don't understand his complaining.

Looking at the gif, the heli also does not seem to be tilted at 45 degrees, so slowly forward is perfectly possible. Just the blade snapping part that makes this impossible

at the beggining of the gif it's close enough to 45 degrees to need a high amount of torque in order to stay in the air, which it does not seem to be providing based on the air speed.

torque does not help a helicopter stay in the air

torque rotates the propeller. The propeller would have to be rotated at a high speed to produce the lift to stay in the air, and torque would have been easier to say than propeller speed.

But torque is only needed for the angular acceleration of the propeller blade from rest. Once the blades have enough angular velocity, it would need very little torque balance out friction loss due to drag and the friction on the shaft. The force of lift come solely from the angular velocity at which the blades are spinning, not the angular acceleration

I mean the way I was thinking about it in my mind was that the helicopter needed to speed up from its current speed or it would crash, but yeah you're right.
