This gesture was just rude and immature. I didn't vote for Romney and didn't support him in any way, but I still would have shaken his hand out of common courtesy.

Actually, it does appear to be a rude gesture, but if you look at the perspective that Mr .President is introducing his acquaintance, it makes more sense. Anytime you are with a foreign dignitary, either country, you try to be as polite as possible, as in introducing them first to people you may already know. Also Mr.President has a habit of pointing with his hand which explains the awkward gesture.
