The hard way.

I had to manually edit each frame when the cat appeared and make sure the GIF looked alright.

I imported the nyan cat off google, and applied rainbow overlay over the explosion animation to make it more nyan-ish.

GIF editing--for me anyways--is generally difficult, considering you have to account for each sequential frame and make sure it blends well.

There are cheap tricks you can do to lessen the workload, but this results in poor GIF (example: funnyjunk.com/funny_gifs/4210374/White+men+can+jump/52#52 )
