I might not be OP, but I certainly would like to help a questioning mind out.

Are you familiar with electromagnets? If not, check wikipedia, they can explain far better than me. If you do, electromagnets can be made more powerful by adding larger quantities of power. At a certain level -such as is shown here- the magnetic influence of the field over the seperate metal-atoms is larger than the strength of their bonds to other metal-atoms. This results in a movement of the atoms -which, in its turn is responsible for creating a fuckload of heat. At a certain point, the metal-atoms move so much, the physical properties of the metal changes. Things such as magnetism no longer apply, and the metal-liquid drops out of the magnet, immediatly re-forming a metal as soon as the magnetic influence is gone (as soon as it's no longer in the coil.)
