Yes they are nocturnal, but if it was in any type of distress from the lighting I think it would have its eyes closed.

Cats are nocturnal as well, the light doesn't both their eyes. Some goes for bats, raccoons, and almost every nocturnal animal.

Let me put it this way:
I live in San Diego and I've been visiting the San Diego Zoo, and the Wild Animal Park ever since I was a kid, and I've seen them pick up and hold all kinds of animals like these slow loris, koalas, and even bring cheetahs out of their enclosures on flimsy little leashes and let kids pet them, all without de-clawing or removing any teeth from the animals

My favorite thing to do is go to the Wild Animal Park, and go to the Lorikeet Landing, which is an enclosure full of these little red birds named lorikeets, and you can spend a few bucks to get a little cup of nectar and as soon as you walk in you'll have about 20 of these little guys land all over you, it's fucking awesome and I've still never been shit on

Haha yeah, we have that at our zoo too. I've heard that lorikeets make nice pets too. I have a cockatiel.

I'd love to have a cockatiel, I love birds :)

She's a cutie ^-^
she lets pretty much anyone scratch her head and pet her neck, and she's very interactive. sometimes if you squeak at her she'll squeak back. Especially in the morning whenever she wakes up. (btw her squeak is pretty much just yelling "EE! EE!" haha)
She loves watermelon and spinach and adores perching on your shoulder, never gets tired of it

That's exactly what i'd want out of a bird, but the one here at my local pet store is too expensive lol

I ultimately want a macaw because they're just so cuddly. Cockatiels aren't. She won't let you touch anything but her head, and she scares very, very easily. I also tolerate pain well, so I think I'd be okay with a couple warning bites and scratches that you get from macaws.
