Where is everyone getting this whole hitting her thing from all he did was point at her then shook her
In my school back in K-8 Our principal had a wooden paddle and he would whip the **** out of us
An do you know what our school was one of the top 20 best behaved students in missouri and my classes map scores where in the top 12, 5 years straight
People who dont beat their kids are most likely going to have Kids that mis-behave
I Am currently in highschool now about to graduate and every year the kids that come in they get worse and worse
We didnt start cursing until 8th grade and now coming from the same schools kids are fighting swearing chewing smoking and everything else in 7th grade
Kids are getting worse and worse since theres no one to discipline them anymore
Granted i didnt act good while i was at school Hell i still dont but these little arrogant cock suckers Do whatever they want and dont get in trouble
This is why im going to beat my kids
When they act up im going to Whoop their ass's and i dont care if you think

"Its child abuse your a horrible person" My parents beat me and i turned out to be a good kid and all the teachers here for my last year here say im An outstanding Student when i get D's just because im respectful to them Hardly any one else in this highschool
And it pisses me off they werent brought up right
I know kids who sell drugs who are more respectful to the teachers here than the perfect Straight A student and He is always willing to help anyone out He stays after an helps the teachers and coaches and they all like him for because his parents brought him up right

Nowadays all the parents are trying to find out who to point the finger of blame at
Oh i blame it on the school
Oh its all the violent videogames that make him act up
Wrong its the fact you gave the little **** whatever he wanted no matter what
And never one gave the little bastard the whooping he deserved so if your
Looking where to point
Point it at the mirror

I wasn't beat and I'd say I'm nicer than most people. Though I just do what I think is right and what I think everybody should do. (Hold doors open for people, help anyone as best I can, that kinda' stuff. I'm just courteous, I guess). Honestly, going off how my dad raised me, it's more like a "Treat them with respect" kinda thing. Ya' know... Joke around, be nice, basic things like that.

If they do something bad, then yeah, punish them. To be completely honest, my dad is probably the scariest guy I know just because from him yelling at me. And yet I still look up to him.

I mean, I had friends back in Elementary who were beat and they were complete assholes. They cursed at their parents all the time. Hell, even my step-brother was like that for a while. I think he's pretty much over that for the most part, though.

I guess what I'm trying to say is pretty much what a lot of the other commenters said, but my way isn't as persuasive, I suppose. Beating your kid doesn't always work. While it may in some cases, you can't be sure.

But I'm just sharing my opinion.

Dude you are totally right, and I agree.
But the thing that gets me / scares me is the way some people punish children. Like in the .gif the teacher looks pretty pissed and is roughing the girl out of anger. The pressure he is putting on the girl and the way he is acting kind of scares me.

sheeyit, i went to this all boys school (1-8) in DC. small school, graduating class of 40. and we had the oldschool chalk boards. whenever someone dozed off or wasn't paying attention, the teacher (who was also a coach for at least one sport) would whip a chalk-dusted eraser at the kid, who had to wear the chalk proudly.

and i excelled in high school past all the kids who were punished with a pat on the back and a "you'll do better next time".

You don't need pain to make people behave. You need to know how to handle kids that don't do what their told. In one of my schools the grade 8's were probably the worse bunch of kids known to mankind. The cornered a bunny, no bigger than the palm of your hand, and stomped on it to death. That's probably one of the nicest things those grade 8's ever done.

But there was this one teacher that they had later that year (The other one left, shows how great these kids are) And everyday as they walked out of the class he held them by their shoulders or shirt collar, looked them dead in the eye and talked to them for a minute or so.

No one ever talked about what they were told, no one knows what he said to each person but what ever he said. Everyday people walked out of that class crying. And not more than a month after they guy came, those grade 8's were the most amazing group of students you would ever meet.

He was a good teacher, the younger kids liked him, parents would come in just to say thanks to him, even the teacher would all smile enthusiastically and pat him on the back smiling and laughing. He's a man that changed peoples minds.

So there, and example of people who can mix screwed up without beating them.

You pose your argument reasonably and maturely, so I will do my best to show the same decency.

The worst my parents/teachers ever did was yell at me when I did something wrong, and I ended up getting good grades in school and being incredibly respectful to my elders, regardless of how much I actually liked them. However, I do have issues with loud noises now. The point I'm trying to make is, one universal child-raising method does not exist. This is going to sound crazy, kids grow at different rates and different ways. When it comes to raising kids, you have to really pay attention to them, how they think and respond to stimuli, set limits and appropriate sanctions. Although there are a lot of kids who do need it from time to time, there's a lot more thought and effort necessary to raise a human being for eighteen some-odd years than just defaulting to, "beat the **** out of them when they're acting obnoxious". Thank you for your time and patience.

I don't personaly think so, you're the guardian of the child, someone who is supposed to look after and protect the child and make them feel secure.

I honestly think, if you can't educate your children any other way than beating them, you're a bad parent, no ******* shame in asking for help being a parent

I am not sure what is causing the increase of dick-ish behavior, but the world is cruel enough, at least let you remain a good thing in the childs life.

I can only disagree with your statement. Kids will always seem disrespectful and stupid to the older generations, if you hear the tales of what kids used to do they are just as bad if not worse then what people do now. The only difference is the volume of children is much higher. But regardless of why beating a child doesn't help advance them as a human being. Beatings cause resentment more often then not, the reason they are so frowned upon is the psychological issues that can arise due to physical damage at a young age. Not to mention that thousands of cases wherein a child has been killed due to corporal punishment by an "enthusiastic" parent.

Physical punishment can also in some cases break the child and reduce them to a spiteful little ball of anger compared to what they could have been. Not only that but it doesn't actually teach the lesson as well as other methods. When you beat a child for lets say being disrespectful they associate being disrespectful with physical pain. Now after that child grows up they realize that being disrespectful doesn't hurt them so the lesson is ignored for there is no reason to stay a kind person. But if the child is made to understand why being disrespectful is bad then they will retain the lesson better because it will be cerebral response to respect someone instead of an emotional one.

I am not saying that it works in some cases but more often then not it causes harm, and before you cry foul stating I have no experience in such matters I dealt with many beatings and punishments as a child. But honestly I still see no reason why any person should be denied food or physical safety beyond attempting to nurture a dislike for the person inflicting it upon them. I honestly learned more about how to be a better person from imitating characters in stories then from any punishment that has been inflicted on me.

I agree that people are bringing kids up the wrong way, but beating kids isnt the solution, it has a lot to do with outside influence, and overall its up to the kids to go on the right path, i had a rough upbringing, too long to explain the little things, basically mother didnt love me, moved in with father, step mother hates me etc etc. for 3 years in high school i smoked pot and was a delinquent. but i decided on my own to straighten myself out, and now adults and people my age tell me that i am an outstanding person, its all about your demeanor, how badly you want to be a good person, its not all about the way youre raised, because i was raised like **** and now im doing better than people that were raised to be respectful, im not saying hitting kids and being stern doesnt work, im saying its not the only solution

no, your logic is flawed and you should feel bad. I agree, I was beaten too and I grew out to be just fine. But look at everyone else, my brother was beaten too and he grew up to do drugs and chase me around the house holding a knife just 'cuz he was angry. It doesn't work the same way with everyone, one of my dear friends had the most perfect childhood. The MOST perfect, his parents love each other dearly, they never hit him, never punish him, and that friend of mine is one of the nicest people i know. He knows how to value life, he knows how to behave.

See so there's no general rule here. But be nice and nice things will come to you too. You can't be mean to your kids and brace for the best, it always depends on the person anyway

You are right in the sense that beating kids will make them behave better but this will instill in them an authoritative sense of morality meaning that they won't do the right thing out of empathy or simply because it is the right thing do. They will do the right thing out of fear of the consequences. This is what they do in countries like Saudi Arabia and other Islamic nations that use Sharia law(obviously to a greater extent). The state cuts off people's hands for stealing, cuts men's balls off for adultery, etc. and they are very orderly but they are societies created out of fear of punishment. Nobody has any real morals or values. There morals and values of the people are whatever authority tells them, no matter how cruel it is. This is coming from a person who knows a lot about getting beat. Coming from the Caribbean(Trinidad and Tobago), corporal punishment is a normal thing(to a lesser extent now) but not when I was growing up and don't think we used to get off easy with a wooden paddle.

Alright, I agree that the pretentious little pricks need to have someone to whoop their asses. I also agree that adults these days are ******* pansies when it comes to punishment and rewarding true work. You are a gentleman and a scholar, even though your methods are, for obvious reasons, not gentle.

I was brought up in a similar fashion, but my parents never hit me. Physically, at least. They waited for me to get attached to something I loved, and then they would take it away/destroy it if I ****** up. For example, when I was 6 years old my parents told me that I was in the ultimate zone of being grounded. If I touched a toy they would throw it away. I watched my mom rip a tennis ball up before my eyes. That's how serious these punishments were.

Now I personally don't believe in hitting children, but I do believe in reducing them to true sorrow and agony until they behave. I will not hit my kids, but when they act up, you can be sure that they will be grave when they leave "The Talk". It will start out simple, "John, can I talk to you for a second?". They will leave a river of salty tears when they realize that they have displeased their father and that it matters.

The only flaw I see in hitting children is that they might grow to hate you. I refuse to let that happen. I want to be a role model for my children, and being hated is not the way to go.

TL;DR

Kids are snots now. I won't hit a child because they should love their parents, not hate them. But they will feel my wrath when they **** up.

I disagree, There are other ways to discipline a child. Beating children leads to serious psychological damages and we end up people who resent their family and are angry at the world. They turn to low-lives and have problems with authority. This is how we end up with kids killing their parents or officers being shot on the side of the road. By no means am I saying that is an absolute, but it most certainly contributes to evil in this world. Most of us won't do anything that truly changes the world in our lifetime, but the least we can do is raise our kids right and simply be peaceful.

Also, Shout out to law enforcement. CHP officer was killed yesterday on 680 (for you califags)

i just think a good pop on the head and spanking will do fine if they really get out of line. i will respect them if they respect me. if they don't, then they will be punished. not just by being hit though. there are other ways.

though i don't know if i should have kids...

I have never ever been beaten or smacked, but that's not to say I wasn't disciplined.
as a child I was always reasoned with, now that's not just telling me I did something wrong it was what I did wrong and why it was wrong to other people (and I had the most respect for my mum for that) so knew not to do that ever again.
Also this method it has helped me by teaching me how to deal with real life situations without violence, now see, your outlook (beat my kids because they will be better, to put it vaguely) it's not about what discipline method, it's about how you carry that out and adjusting to how your kid reacts to said method, in my opinion how my parents disciplined, it worked perfectly.
I'm now 17 finishing my preliminary course in high school, already have 3 early entry applications accepted, now that's not to say I'm perfect also, but no one is.
but of course at a young age you cannot reason with a child, it's like training a dog but when they develop and grow, change your methods.

TL;DR work HARD to keep your children in line no matter what method of discipline, and they will be good members of society. simple as that.
lazy parents are ******* up society, yes that involves you Mr. Beatmykids ******************.

******* Agreed...
Kids who dont get slapped enough in their young years will not accept a "no" as an answer and will probably develop anti-social behaviours, ending up as some spoiled brat

A mild physical punishment such as spankings is acceptable on semi-extreme occasions, but in no way is physically beating up a child a good idea

I understand that. I won't allow anyone to use my computer either. But than again you're older and you've been paying for your own things. Even if some of it is bought by others. You still probably have some respect for it. While these kids are around what 9-12 years old and have the latest/expensive things on the market and really don't give a **** about it. If they break it, they just end up get another one without a second thought.

That's understandable. Still doesn't mean a parent should buy really expensive stuff for a little kid. But i think why i'm getting so butthurt over this is because i'm jealous of them? Since i never had that cool stuff as a kid. Who knows.
