My hypothesis (y'know, in spirit of science):
1) Glue popsicle sticks together as shown
2) Glue said popsicle sticks to the floor
3) Have a really strong fishing line or wire underneath
4) Keep pulling it a lot and upwards (the wire, not your penis)
5) Profit

Last time I saw it, I remember seeing that they had just weaved the sticks in a way that produced a lot of springy-friction (super science term) so when they fling the beginning up it shoves that energy through all the other sticks, making a mess!

Not gonna say that'd be impossible, and certainly deals with having a strong enough hard-to-see/invisible wire, but I'd imagine my solution to be easier haha.
