is this actually how it looks to read when your dyslexic?

It's got the idea right. But the way it's put forward is stupid.
I read 'policeman' as 'pelican' for example.
And sometimes I get the letters jumbled, so I will write 'd' as 'b' or 'p' and so on.
But most of the time I just look at a word and can't read it or I think of one and can't spell it.
I spent 5 minutes in my English exam trying to remember how to spell 'what' and another 5 trying to remember how to write the letter 'b'.

It's frustrating.

For a dyslexic person, you've got perfect grammar and spelling.

It was either suffer or learn.
I wasn't going to spend my life blaming everything on my dyslexia.
It took a lot more effort than the average person puts into learning grammar and spelling but now I'm better than others and people ask for my help.
It's not gone, it will never be gone, but my state of mind is well now.

Dyslexia only affects letters and words. Numbers is dyscalculia :)

I totally agree! It happens all the time with other jobs too. I was watching Master Chef, and they put the blind girl on the grill, a purely visual job. Doesn't make sense.

Most people who I've known who are dyslexic are shit with words but their minds are pretty decent. As in, they get top of the class in science and maths if they dont have to write, but if they had to write for themselves in an exam they'd be fucked.

In short, the world is a stupid, stupid place.

Make a living doing something where your disability won't cause you to fuck up ALL THE TIME. There's a reason that people in wheelchairs don't play in the NHL, and there's a reason why people with dyslexia or discalculia shouldn't process paychecks.

It is one of those things where it is different for everybody that has it. For instance, it mostly messes with my ability to spell, if the word is longer than seven letters, I'm going to mess it up, no matter how much time or effort I put in to memorizing how it is spelled. It also makes it so sometimes I read the wrong word, or swap two words in a sentence, but that is rarely. But then I know people whose dyslexia fucks with the lettering arrangement, like they'll see the third letter as the first, and the second letter at the last. Hope this helped.
