The point they are making is that the Pyro likes colorful happy things. Considering every character in MLP is a colorful ball of tiny horse shaped happiness (Save the occasional villain/the 4chan incarnate), the Pyro would enjoy them. Also due to the fact that Equiestria is basically a paint spatter exactly like Pyrovision he would enjoy it too.

Plus, it's Ponies. There is going to be some kind of link in EVERYTHING in several bronies eyes before there is a crossover.

Ponies exist. Its just something you have to live and learn. I was the same way, but I was more neutral. I watch it but I don't froth at the mouth like most people do. I keep it out of where it is obvious sometimes it just doesn't belong.

This post just relates both of them as they seem pretty similar. + MLP would be the most currently popular thing that could related to the land that the pyro is imagining.

I don't play team fortress, so I don't have any arguments about the video/picture/whatever it is I've seen four posts about in ponytime, but aren't the haters bringing MLP into it because the bronies already brought MLP into it?

Not only have I yet to meet a brony who believes it's an -actual- reference (Of course, I don't doubt that there are some delusion enough to think that, just I haven't seen any yet), but there are haters who think it's a reference, and even RAGING about it.

Like I said, I barely know what this pyro thing is, and all of my knowledge of it has come from ponytime posts(that shad comic one I enjoyed).
For all I know, if I actually played team fortress, I might be one of the people raging because the bronies "can't stop linking things to their cult on the thinnest connections they can find."

I only know it isn't a reference because of that shad comic that is so obviously making fun of bronies who make the connection. If I had just seen the one above, I too would have thought that it was bronies making more flimsy connections just to associate their fandom with something more universally accepted.

I don't doubt that they are actually out there, but until I see another 20 posts making the comparison, I won't be raging on people.

Why can't things just be a joke?

I find the comparison funny. pyro is seen frolicking in a land of happiness and sunshine (while, in reality, he's murdering everyone), MLP is a happy and sunshiny world (for the most part at least), or it's stereotyped to be like that, why is it such a crime to make a silly little comparison?

Like I said, I've yet to meet a single brony who actually believes it's a reference to MLP, I even asked the bronies on the brony servers on TF2 if anyone thought it was, and they said "no, I wouldn't say it is, but I find the idea funny." In fact, some of the people on those servers, who aren't even fans of MLP, told me they see haters making a fuss over it more than bronies.

It's the wear, I suppose.

Everything gets connected to ponies; it just gets annoying. Kind of like how I can't make a hilarious gay joke about bronies, because they're tired of being called gay and don't see the joke.

I don't play team fortress, so I have a completely outside view-point on this subject, based purely on this site. From this site, all I know about it is that people are making connections to ponies(jokingly or not), and others are getting mad about it.
From my own point of view, I see the joke, and I'm thankful that it's a connection that makes sense this time. Though, if he's slaughtering people, doesn't that mean he's slaughtering the ponies in these posts?

Well, "gay" has been used far too many times in a serious tone towards us to really be seen as a joke anymore. If someone made it plainly obvious that it was a joke, then I'm sure SOME people would find it funny (like using flamboyant or "fabulous" instead of "gay").

And that seems to be such a common occurrence, ponies making people mad. It's not the fact that we combine it with so many things, it's the fact that people get so irrationally angry about anything having to do with ponies. Even those who claim to be "neutral." if one crossover is fine, but then another isn't, then you aren't exactly neutral, now are you? (not 'you', just in general).

It's called "bias," and there's tons of it. It's actually why I think some people make the comparison between MLP and pyro, because people LOVE to get mad (you should have seen the rage that unfolded when gabe newell, CEO of valve and creator of steam, came out and said he was a brony, that was a glorious shitstorm it was).

I can imagine the outrage. Some of the people who use Steam idolize that guy like some bronies idolize Lauren Faust, and I know them to become very upset when something negative is said about her.
As long as he didn't start stuffing ponies into all of his games, there's not really anything bad about it, though.

Like if Christian Bale(my favorite actor) suddenly made an announcement that he's a brony, as long as his subsequent roles aren't always finding ways to work in being a brony, everything's cool.

If that's something he said he would do, I would understand the outrage and be on the side of the haters in that case, because he's forsaking the vast majority of his player base just for some stupid references.

But that's not something he's doing, instead he just came out saying "I do enjoy watching my little pony," and the shit hit the fan, people reacted like he just spat on their mothers. Of course people would get defensive if another insults someone they idolize, hell I'd be a bit distraught if someone came out and insulted viggo mortensen (who played aragorn), but it's not like I'd be upset if viggo revealed some sort of harmless hobby, or that he was gay/part of some religion.

If I were in a room with Viggo Mortensen, and a girl had to choose between him and I, she would choose him. And I would be honored.

While we're gushing over viggo, I'd like to add that I found his parts in the "behind the scenes" in the creation of the Lord of the Rings to be very inspirational, and it feels almost as if the movie would have been totally incomplete if he hadn't been on board (not discounting the rest of its fantastic cast of course).

I find it entirely fortunate that his son was there to overhear his phone call when he was asked to star as aragorn, because it was his son who convinced him to play the role.
