You are not the only one, but I was kind of hoping it would get a 3DS release.

I can still hope.

Why? I would have been so pissed if they downgraded it to a handheld game, let's face it, games for handheld consoles are a lot worse in general, you can physically put in more gameplay, better graphics, better multiplayer elements, as well as having a longer plot on a console game.

Handheld devices are supposed to be played on the go, and you have to compromise with the quality of the game.

But It would be awesome to see pikmin 3 release on the 3ds as well as the wii u, I wouldn't mind that

Remember what game we're talking about now, people don't love pikmin because it has amazing graphics.

But I would much rather play the game on an hdtv then on a tiny handheld screen, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I would just hate to see a great game limited because of hardware

Because I want to play Pikmin under the covers of my blanket.

I would want for them to do both handheld and console.

Why do people always look down on Nintendo for not making "Hardcore" games?
I've always viewed nintendo as being the more Family Friendly console in the gaming industry.

It has a few good, intense titles thrown in, but in the long run, it seems more like a casual console meant for party games and just to sit back and laugh with your friends as you throw shells at one another.

All nintendo ever do is release the same old game over and over again now a days. You may as well just play OoT or Super Mario 64 as they are all just remakes of those 2

but you can't deny that they have introduced a lot of innovations in the game systems, and other companies imitate when they realize it's profitable. the analogue stick [sony copied it], motion control [sony AND microsoft stole the idea], even the WiiU was stolen by microsoft [badly] with their smartglass idea. and honestly, you can't say super mario and zelda are always the same. super mario galaxy has nothing to do with super mario 64, and skyward sword was the first game ever to feature 1:1 sword wielding with motion controls.. i think you're selling them short. just because they have the same characters doesn't mean they aren't innovative

nearly every gaming innovation ever developed has been pioneered by Nintendo (first shoulder triggers, first 3d games, etc etc) and then followed by Sony/Microsoft (and Sega/Phillips, for the oldfags :P) If you want innovation, Nintendo is the place to find it

I want to say that i respect your opinion, but nintendo has innovated in one thing: Motion Controllers. All they do is bleed their flagship games dry, i mean what the hell is innovative about Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, or another bloody Mario Party game. Reggie and those other clowns are falling to the wayside and I believe that if Nintendo doesn't get some new games that people what to play this will be their LAST console, just like sega they will just make games for other systems. And Zelda has been riding the nostalgia train for years, get a boomerang, get a grappling hook, save the princess, REAL ****** INNOVATIVE.

ZombiU?
Assassin's Creed 3?
FIRE EMBLEM AWAKENING? (yes it was just confirmed for the US)
Mass Effect 3?
Darksiders 2?
Batham: Arkham City: Armored Edition?
Ninja Gaiden 3?
What the hell did microsoft and sony announce? i have not seen the sony e3 presentation but i haven't heard any big announcements anyway. Microsoft just announced halo 4, splinter cell blacklist, smartglass, and more voice control you must be so excited about that.

While you might be referring to the gameplay aspect of it, the story changes again and again, which if you're a real gamer, the story is a big part of it. Plus they bring new aspects to each game for figuring out the puzzles, and while long time Zelda veterans might catch up on it very quickly, the newcoming Zelda fans can have a VERY hard time with it.

The motion controls for Skyward Sword were very clever and innovative and, provided you actually attempted to do things right and didn't flail the remote around like an idiot, actually took some time to master and get the hang of.

Honestly, I play Zelda, all of them, even if they're similar, because I like what each one brings and has to offer, and they all excel in their own themes. If I want to play something that's not Zelda and doesn't follow their formula then I play a different game, simple as that. It's like putting Zelda in when you're wanting to play something like Final Fantasy 7, it's retarted, just put FF7 in and play what you want to play.

Okay i'll just leave the Zelda argument alone, you like what they do and don't do, but you can't deny the facts, Software sales keep companies afloat and nintendo doesn't have enough first party games to keep themselves afloat, for all the wii motion and system sales they had this generation they still were not profitable with 64% of their games. So unless they plan to have Mario and Zelda come out every year this is it for them.

I agree. Nintendo won't stop sucking off of Mario, and Zelda fame. Only true idiots keep buying the same game, over, and over again. Just like COD boys.
Mario first game was in 1981. It's 2012. Why not move on to a different idea all together? Past in the past.
I don't know when Zelda first hit, but I can bet it is older then ten years.
Businesses are so lazy.

I'm betting that if they make a new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, that using the Wii U controller will make the entire setup easier and cheaper to play, which in reality is what I'm hoping they do. The multiplayer for all of them so far is very expensive, which is a shame because it's a blast with multiple people.

What about the Wii U lineup?

ME3, AC3, ZombiU, Batman Arkham City Armored Edition, Ninja Gaiden 3?

Did everyone but me miss this? I think the lineup for the Wii U looks great. There's a list on Eurogamer if anyone cares.

well i guess no one saw assassins creed 3 or batman or zombie u. I would like to say that honestly Nintendo is the only company that thinks of everyone and corners every market so yeah play your Xbox because paying for internet access that you already own is legit. I can sit down and run through most games that are released and if your saying Nintendo rehashes a lot gears of war, god of war. Halo four, call of duty 30 so whatever. ill see you guys when Microsoft and Sony have a screen on their controller

Took until the end of this console generation for sales to fall below everything else for more than a few months. Nintendo will forever be the innovator, and appealing to people besides hardcore gamers was their innovation this time around.

Any game that has been around since long before the concept of "hardcore gaming" even existed, and still has an almost universally positive reception is pretty damn hardcore to me.

Mario is a hardcore game, no doubts. It hides behind the guise of a children's game, but is known for having some just ridiculously difficult challenges. Play Super Mario Bros. and tell me your "hardcore" games like Amnesia stack you up against flying instant death fish out of ******* nowhere, or giant homing cannon shells. Just because it was designed for kids doesn't mean it's a great, and truly challenging, game, for those who are gamers to the core. If all you play are "hardcore" games, you're not a full gamer yet, just another of the sub-types encompassed by the title. A true, complete gamer plays games because they're good, not because of how they're classified. I'll let you talk about hardcore when you get off your Xbox and play older games, the ones designed to be difficult. Try beating the first Ninja Gaiden with no continues, and then talk about how hard Dark Souls is.

I could say the same about Dark/Demon Souls, or Call of Duty, or really any "AAA" or "hardcore" game today. They're designed for children. The children have simply become less and less intelligent. Certain Mario games, the older ones especially, require more patience and skill than any game you're likely to find on a store shelf today. Just because a game is designed for children doesn't detract from its value. Luigi's Mansion was designed for children, and yet there's several grown men, myself included, who play the game because it's fun, and because it knows the difference between being challenging and being so ass-backwards that you can't play it, unlike most games today I've been stuck with, like Call of Duty.
