I have to say, thanks for stopping this because I really dont feel like arguing on FJ about the differences between DI and Piston guns.

I won't ever start an argument about it. I'll explain the differences between the two but arguing about them is really pointless. the only thing to compare is the rounds, and even then the only discussion worth having is one over the 5.45 vs the 5.56.

Personally I like both systems, but I am a firm believer that DI is not a bad one in any way.

Well personally I find that DI is a system that doesn't last as long but when you're being supported by an army and maintenance is guaranteed and often, it's not an issue.

As for the AR-15, it's an alright weapon. I'd prefer the AK-47 or it's upgraded variants for a multitude of reasons, but that's just me.

AKs inner workings are not similar StG.44. They are only similar in the appearance. Kalashnikov (mispelled) was in the hospital recovering from shell shock when he came up with the design. He didn't steal the design, he came up with it. Of coursee the guns are gonna look similar. Its like the F-22 and the Suhkoi T-50.

Well,the PPSH had issues with the firing mechanism that the Russians tried to improve upon with later models(if you dropped it,the firing pin could snap,jam forward,or misfire) and the Nagant is still a very popular rifle even today.

The MP-44 is different than the STG. The STG is the production model,the MP-44/43 were the earlier versions/prototypes,generally stuff like the stock and muzzle were different.

The Ak was inspired by the STG as the Soviets saw the importance of a rifle that was small,light and powerful. It functions very differently however. And the sights on an AK are pure garbage.

Still, it was called to MP-44 until they saw how it worked and renamed it.
And really, I find the sights on any gun, because the only time I don't use some sort of additional sight is if it were an emergency, and I find that if that happens, it is happening close range

I am the complete opposite I prefer Iron sights on my own Ak47, and Mosin Nagant. I fint that too often I either need a gun tailored to my broad shoulders or it is too much fumbling to properly shoulder the damed thing.
I am just glad someone in this damn place likes guns.

on an AK I would mount some sort of aftermarket sight because I hate the standard ones. On bar the worst sights I have used.

I love the sights on the M14 however. Easy to use and a damn good gun.

That's what I mean, if I am gonna use a gun (which i can't use the AK, STG, MP or any other auto here in Canada) and it's indoors, it is probably an emergency, and I don't need to aim that much, it is basically a point and shoot situation, if I am going outside, i will probably have time to attach a sight.

Im planning on getting a couple rifles this year. One of them an M14. I live in the states,and im getting my CCW permit,so hopefully I wont run into the issues you guys have up north.

You cannot own any automatics, i think the largest calibre you can have is .45. YOu can't own a pistol, if you are part of law enforcement, or are on leave (you are going back into service) for the military, then you are allowed to carry a pistol, but you cannot own it. You need to have it in a holster, and it needs to be in a place that you can control (under arm holster, not at your side) but if you are asked by police, you need to show papers and show it to them, or else it is considered a concealed weapon.
You can own a blade of any length, you can carry a knife that has a blade of less than 7 (possibly 8) inches, unless you are hunting.
You need a license to own a CO2 powered pellet guns, but battery, spring, or pump are allowed.
All shotguns are allowed, as long as they are not automatic.
You need a PAL (Possession and Acquisition License) to buy firearms and ammunition. This requires safety training, a background check and you to go through the same things as getting a driving license.
When you are carrying guns (unless you are hunting or walking with them on your own property) they are suppose to be in a case of some sort.
You need a proper gun safe to store the guns in for periods of time, it should be fire-proof and therefore you can get them in local hardware stores, as most people buy them as fire safes. You cannot store ammunition in the gun safe, you need a lock box in a different spot for it. When guns are stored away you are suggested to use trigger locks. You cannot fire guns in Urban/sub-urban areas, you should notify your neighbours if you are gonna be doing some target practice in the country. And you need all licenses and need to abiding by all these laws if you are to bring guns across the border.
These laws are just for Ontario as well, laws very province to province to territory.

Damn those laws would be anoyying.

that is a 1935 Tula hex reciever. No they are not still in production but millions are made making them very available and cheap, however the round 7.62x54R is still produced and as far as I know still used by Russia today. Yes it fires and very accurately even with mil-surp ammo.

Let's put it this way... Even if they're not, they made so many of them that I can go online and look for a guy selling crates of them for a very reasonable price.
