Satan doesn't punish sinners - he dwells on earth and tempts people to sin and therefore reject God

common theological belief states that after Jesus "Descended into Hell" -Hell at the time being where all people, good and evil went after death- to release those who were faithful into Heaven, Satan stopped running amok so much and more or less took up residence in Hell.

Don't thumb this guy down for being right. If we're pretending that the stories from the bible are true for the sake of the joke, then we should consider what this guy is saying. Don't be an ass.

how can god have mercy and satan punish. god is more powerful and so has authority over satan, so if god has mercy then that would mean satan doesnt do anything. your statement has holes

Yes, but neither will God assist those who reject him entirely. Basically, God doesn't damn people, people just refuse to go to Heaven by not taking the path. I'm not really a theological lawyer, so don't take my words completely literally.

God let's bad things happen. As bad as most people will immediately think this is, so do I sometimes. But he does not make the bad things happen.
What I mean is he gave us free will, so we have the freedom of your own life choices. This goes back to Adam and Eve.

im not religious. but anyway i know god gave us free will and we have lead ourselves to do bad things but that just means god takes no action and satan does ie punishing the wrong doers and we are the bad but we have the choice to do good, leading me to think that satan is indifferent so not good or bad just gods device. sorry for possibly retarded statement

Well one, if God takes no action how do you know he doesn't?.. If a 10.0 earthquake were to devastate the world at this very moment and God intervenes, how would you ever know he saved us? You should be happy and grateful for your own life and he allows us to find pleasure in helping others..
And two, Satan enjoys thoroughly people's suffering, which is why he does it. God gives us the choice of two paths, and when we pick the wrong one he grieves with us just as much, if not more so.
And no you had a lot of good points i understand..
