Answer: Yes, mercury is an element. It does happen to have a melting point below room temperature. (Therefor is a liquid at room temp.) As mercury has a slightly negative charge, it does not only have a very weak magnetic charge, but it also is repelled by the presence of a magnetic field. FINAL PRODUCT: It's magnetic charge is too weak to be pushed up a ramp against it's weight.
