Hey guys, i've just started lifting (18 yrs, kickboxing and football main sources of activity, football now over so just fighting these days) and im trying to put on weight. Im 6 foot couple inches and 159 pounds, and im taking reasonable care of my diet, balanced n such. Im weighing myself after every workout, but I cant seem to put any weight on. Im currently unmatched in my weight class as all the other light middleweights/middleweights are a lot shorter than me, so i have an unfair reach advantage. Been told to put weight on in order to even things up, and i could use maybe 10 or 15 lbs. Ive stayed at 159 for several weeks, even after doubling my calorie intake (was crazy low before, dont know how i was alive to be honest). any ideas? any advice is much appreciated.

if you're doing well at that weight class, i would strongly suggest staying there. however if you are looking to move up i would suggest looking into the book warrior cardio by martin rooney so you can make a sizable gain effectively without sacrificing too much. the magazine; train hard fight easy, has great tips for combat athletes in it as well. also be prepared to notice a bit of a speed loss if you put on the pounds and be ready for guys who are going to have a monstrous strength and power difference than what you were used to.

cheers for that. the guys at middleweight aren't too huge, so hopefully it'll be a slow learning curve. ive got a bunch of train hard fight easy mags, and so far they've helped with exercises and training, but i haven't looked into the dietary aspect, so i'll be doing that. Thanks for the advice mate!

You are still under eating compared to your calorie output, or you really aren't eating as much as you think you are. More calories.
