I've started cardio to lose weight but the guys at school are saying fuck cardio just go lift cos ur already at the right weight.

Don't make the mistake of trying to build muscle and lose fat at the same time. Do one or the other. Performing intense cardio will greatly hamper hour muscle building efforts. Limit your cardio to non lifting days, no more than twice a week and keep the sessions brief.
Never do cardio before lifting, you should conserve your energy for lifting.
If you want to have a low body fat percantage then it's all about what you eat and diet.

if you're trying to shed some pounds, a weight session before you do cardio will actually help you burn a lot more than if you just do cardio. just make sure you warm up first and don't jump right into any heavy lifting if you haven't done many workouts with weights.
