I'm joining the Air Force later this year and I decided to start getting in good shape before I'm sent off to basic. I started working out since October, I can tell I've made some progress, I used to be kinda chubby, I still am, but you can tell there's been a lot of improvement. My question is, are there any tricks or certain things I can do to increase my muscle mass (inb4 roids). I work out 5 days a week, take two days off. When I hit the gym I do pushups/situps/pullups/dumbells/other fancy machines that I have no idea what they're called. I try to run at least 4 miles every day but it's become a problem because I started getting shin splints about a month ago which makes it very painful to run.Also I broke my ankle about a month and a half ago, but that isn't really much of a problem anymore. My diet is complete shit, I'm thinking that's why there's not been as much improvement as there should've been. After every workout I drink protein shakes, eat eggs, whatever have a lot of protein. Also eat bananas, apples, and all that shit. But I usually go out to eat so I eat like Jimmy Johns, or Wingstop, places like that that aren't necessarily healthy. Also Starbucks. Lots of Starbucks.
So I guess my question is, is there anybody here that's on a good diet that has worked for them that can tell me it. I'm 99% sure the reason I haven't put off as much weight as I should have is that I eat like a monster. I'm 6 foot, about 150-160, I don't remember the last time I checked my weight.
Also a good workout regimen would be cool too. Thanks in advance, sorry for making you read all that.

Take a break from the running, don't run 4 miles EVERY day, since doing that for a long time can hurt you more than help. And being 6 ft 150-160 lbs isn't bad. I'm 6'1 and 165, and I'm a skinny guy. If you are anything like me, you're not losing any more weight. If not, I got nothing.

Well...Im a vegetarian and that diet has worked for me for the longest tim, but i doubt you want to do something like that since majority of people like meat. The only reall advice i can give you is get enough sleep because its hard to lose weight without it. sorry i wasnt much help though
