My old chemistry teacher was like this.
Whenever we would look at the breakdown of fats in our digestive system and how quickly they were broken down she would say
"that is of course as long as your genetics say otherwise, which is the cause of some of my family's problems".
Then she would take a drink from a irn-bru she had on her desk while we answered questions. Everyday she had a new 1ltr bottle and still blamed genetics.

Isn't she right to an extent, though? Genetics does dictate how well the digestive system operates, and simply taking in a lot of food likely isn't enough. Am I wrong, or is it something to do with the processing and stomach acid levels?
A possibility I thought of is that so little is actually intaken by the body due to it rejecting so much of the processed food. A theory I had for this was that it was an abundance of chemicals that made the stomach read the food to be non-beneficial.

BIOLOGISTS GET OVER HERE. CORRECT ME.

That is true, but the point she was making that nothing she did was helping her lose weight (should have made that clear). She always said her genetics were working against her ans she was still losing weight and she has low fat meals and such, but still had about 700 calories alone in one bottle, as well as other stuff (chocolate etc)

I honestly despise people who blame genetics for being obese.
I understand them being slightly overweight, as after all there can be genetic factors involved but as calculated, the narrow sense genetic variability weight wise only accounts for up to 20-25 lbs over the normal weight;height ratio. Anything above that is purely based on eating habits and is considered obesity. Obesity is NOT genetic. Anyone that goes over that is just simply a lazy ******* bastard/bastardette who doesn't respect his/her own body.
Refer to the picture. The ideal body shape is on number 3. They stretch to 6 which is as far as genetic factors alone go, anything above that is purely based on environmental and eating habits and can be fixed by simple diet and even light exercise.

I absolutely hate people that blame genes for obesity, but if they just accept they're fat, I see no reason to hate them. They aren't giving me diabetes with their presence (only Wilford Brimley can do that).
