Get back from overseas.
"Hey mom. Guess I survived Iraq huh?"
"I can't wait for you to get home and help out around the house again"
"Oh, alright, as long as I'm home."
"We have a dinner with some friends, can you go grab your brother and buy a new laptop for him?"
"Yeah. I don't see why not."

Go home. Cry like a faggot to my brother.

And that's the story of how my parents LITERALLY gave the worst welcome I have ever seen.

What the actual **** . Are there really people who call themselves parents and treat their kids like that?
#123 - familyguyreference (06/01/2014) [+] (3 replies)
Not a reference just my actual life.

>Mom and dad: what are you going to do for school next year.
> im going for my bachelor in Chemistry.
> mom: but dont you have to be really smart for HBO schools?
> me: well they did make me take 4 tests, they only accept students who get a 55% average score, i got a 75% average so i think im smart enough.
> mom: i still dont think you're smart enough.
>dad: i agree with your mother, why dont you try to be a gardener, or something else with less pressure.

>Have parents that bitch that I don't drive
>Have parents that bitch I don't have (can't get, mind you) a job
>Have older brother and dad who've thought I am gay most of my life
>Same older brother was a physical and mental bully as a kid
>Now we're older teens
>He clings me to me like a dog sometimes, hate him but I'm sympathetic
>Have really traditional parents, push for that "family #1" ****
>Have family that share no interests with me
>I'm afraid to get into their interests because I am nonathletic and am very vain in terms of my reputation
>I try to help around the house, but they parented me like OP's parents (authoritarian style)
>Imply to me that I should help despite the fact that I don't understand hints because above
>Have a mom who claims to read a lot about parenting
>Apparently not
>Bitches about that I don't have a girlfriend
>"I have no confidence to talk to strangers, Mom. I'm afraid I'll be shot down."
>Goes back to dad and brother ignoring me/putting my words down/shooting me down/the like
>Never have family dinners (be thankful for that)
>Don't like to talk about my interests except with equally strange or stranger people
>I just tried doing that earlier tonight, felt ******* terrible
>Be really hypocritical
>Be a condescending ass (think Sheldon Cooper but much more direct and occasionally loud)

Feeling hard with OP and ready for red thumbs because I'll never be sure what I do to receive them.

I spend most of my time playing PC so both my parents tend to tell to get a girl.
One time I tried "I'm going to live alone" line. Mother didn't protest much but she clearly didn't expect that.
#9 to #8 - mrbigcock (05/31/2014) [-]
My dad pulls the same **** . I am driving along with him in the passengers seat, when all of a sudden he is like "Why don't you have a girlfriend"
"I don't know Dad"
"Well lets find you one"
then continues to list off girls the whole time I am driving....... ****** awkward
