in the actual story he betrays the gipsy girl (forget her name) and she's hanged and thrown in a ditch and quasimodo sad and heart broken lays beside her and dies holding her body.

I'm sure the original novel is an amazing work of art but if I may be so blunt, fuck that. I still prefer a happy Disney ending.

That's what happens in the sequel.

Ok, maybe I should reword my statement.

Disney Phoebus is the shit.

Pretty much every story disney retells is toned so far down it hits bedrock. Some of the original stories are truly grimm

He was married and having an affair with Esmeralda (who was something like 14 in the book, but that was ok back then) and Quasi even tried telling her he was a douche but she didn't care.
Phoebus' wife found out and used some of Esmeralda's street performances with her goat Djali to frame her as a witch (the goat being her demonic familiar)
Phoebus quickly washed his hands of her (weather her believed she was a witch or not) and Esmeralda died, partly due to Quasi's own bias, he saved her from the pyre but didn't trust the gypsies with her so handed her over to the very people trying to kill her. She died and her ran away with her body to the catacombs where he died embracing her.

from what i remember Quasi sees Esmeralda hanging when i is inside the Notre Dame. he then throws Frollo out and is never seen again.

But a few years later they find 2 skeletons laying together. 1 has a fractured neck and 1 has a diformity in his back (the hunch)

Yeah, sun-god-dude only wanted to do the frick-frack with Esmeralda; he was married even. Also, Frollo was the archbishop of Notre Dame, and he was less of a bad guy and more of an unaligned dude in the book.
