its not that he doesn't know how, its just that the "close" button should, infact, close Skype.

This is by far the biggest annoyance I experienced when switching to a mac (Don't Judge). Im used to just using cmd/ctrl Q to make the programs close now.

This option is found under Tools > Options > Advanced.

Uncheck it and it will minimize it to the system tray.

Okay, some of you ******* don't realise this.
When you close Steam, it doesn't minimize itself, it CLOSES, but you can still find it in the task bar.
When you close Skype like that, it stands in your task bar just like Steam but it's MINIMIZED.

Here's an image with off the scale MS Paint skills that explains what happens when you press the X button in Steam's interface and what happens when you do it in Skype's.
User avatar #122 to #121 - muthsera (08/03/2014) [-]
So why say it closes? It's not closed, it is minimised, just without the annoying tab on the main program bar. No it isn't hard to understand, if you took the time to actually be correct
#8 - synthane (08/03/2014) [+] (1 reply)
I just force-close it through the task manager. I get about five errors about it not wanting to close, but just spam click through them and it will blessedly go away.

But its a program you keep online 24h or the time you are on the PC. Not a program you start to see if someone is online and the close the program again because no one was online.

Its meant to be run in the background if someone wanna talk to you. If you trying to save few mb from memory then I will say it will not slow down your PC unless its over 10 years old and still use the hold hardware from that time.
#59 to #55 - swagmonstah ONLINE (08/03/2014) [-]
It's a program i do NOT keep open 24/7 and one that I expect to close when I tell it to close.
User avatar #4 - pasadenamudslide (08/03/2014) [+] (1 reply)
Spotify Does it too as well as a ton of other programs
#31 - cursesnew (08/03/2014) [+] (9 replies)
Like hell that should close the entire program. It's a chat program and it's nice to keep it open all the time. If you want to quit it you go through the start menu of it.
#40 to #31 - buffalogriller (08/03/2014) [-]
close the window. as in, minimize to the system tray.
