Any advice on driving, going to be taking lessons here soon and is there any tips my fellow FJers could give me?
Swallow these tips. There's a lot of 'em. That's all I could think of at the moment.
>Don't press the gas pedal hard to show off. Burns so much more gas than you'd imagine.
>Turn down the stereo around cops; some are raging bitches
>Don't be afraid to switch lanes/overtake a cop if he/she is going too slow; as long as you're going the speed limit (or even 2 mph over), you'll be fine
>During the drivers test, do NOT hold your steering wheel the wrong way. And by that, I mean don't hold it so that you're palm is on bottom. Your palm should always be on top of the steering wheel. If you hold it the wrong way, the DMV automatically fails you.
>Remember to check your mirrors and use your turn signals during the 3-point turn part of the drivers test.
>For the love of God, use your damn turn signals when switching lanes.
>And when I say use your turn signals, I don't mean turn it on, turn it off, then switch lanes, or turn it off before you even get there. Turn it on, and turn it off when you are 3/4 of the way into the next lane. Can't tell you how much this pisses me off.
>Keep the windows up when driving at high speeds. If left open, the high speeds can increase drag on your car and decrease fuel economy.
>Ease up slowly at red lights. Don't jam the breaks suddenly. Your fuel tank, brakes. and wallet will thank you
>Generally, the more times you have to break, the more fuel that is being wasted. That being said, try to go at the posted sped. Cruise along. Try not to brake so much.
>It's GENERALLY ok to go 4 mph over the speed limit. Five over is iffy, and most cops will stop you for it. Then again, some cops are bitches and will stop you for going 4 over; so be cautious.
>Check your headlights/tail lights frequently to make sure they're not out, or you'll be facing a ticket.
