So I've been creatively writing stories for a while, but I just can't seem to focus anymore. It's just too hard to concentrate when I think that I'm forcing myself to write 1000 words every day rather than writing how much I'd actually like to (let's just say substantially less). I've always been a tad inattentive, and sitting down to write 1000 words can really bother me. I don't think inattentiveness is the problem however, as I can concentrate quite well on any other subject. I get off task or lose interest after only 300 words, which would be a sad sight for any other writer to see me in. You're probably saying something along the lines of "well duh you stupid fucker, right less" right about now, but anyone who has seriously committed themselves to writing a book or short story knows that if you don't set daily goals for yourself you'll end up being way behind schedule very fast.

Anyhow, I'm contemplating buying Adderall from a friend. From my friends' accounts, it works wonderfully to concentrate the mind on whatever task you may be performing. Should I give it a try?

you could try reading books that are also about what you are writing about? maybe get ideas and make them into your own? i write werewolf stories in my spare time for the fun of it and reading books about them (which i also love) helps a lot.

It my sound weird, but I find if I read something before I write it finds its way into the story. I feel that it's them partly someone else's thoughts in place of my own.

I'm not trying to bash your ideas, and I know that they were interesting when you started, but have you grown bored of the idea, perhaps?

Oh yes, I am still very much interested in the plot

I don't know then. In my spare time, I cycle towards and away from a few different projects, but I never complete anything, so that's probably not an exemplary model.

yea i tried it once or twice cuz i couldnt concentrate in school. worked great. execpt it gives you a bit of ODC as well since it concentrates your focus (only while your on it) and its not very addictive. just try not to do it often. just when you despretly need it ( sorry for selling mistakes mr. writer)

Do you still look forward to writing or do you see it as a task? If you still look forward to it, than before trying Adderall try listening to some music you like on a low volume. it always helps me focus. If not and thats really the path you want to take go ahead.

I really do. I adore writing, and I adore the plot I've created, I just can't sit down and write about it

No, you shouldn't. Why the hell would you think drugging yourself is the answer anyway?

See, I basically have the same problem. I've got my head filled to the brim with the most awesome (yeah, sure, lol.) ideas and stories, but I absolutely fail to bring them into script. I also do the 1000 words/day thing, and more often than not, I fail.

Anyway, if you drift off after 300 words, then drift off onto the 300 words of another thing, something new or continue something else you have, just don't quit writing.

Also, just because I'm interested, what exactly are you writing?

Well I appreciate you concern, it's just I would see it as me using the drug, not abusing it. It's non addictive, and could really do wonderful things for me

Pills and powders make me very uneasy. Maybe it's me being irrational, but I hate the idea of playing around with my own nervous system.

In the end, I don't know.
Maybe it won't hurt to try it out.
