I had a girl I was talking to say "omf". She also uses all sorts of shorthand, like omg, wtf, smh, tbh, etc. Sometime her messages look like she fell asleep in the middle of typing them. Anywho, I saw "omf" and asked what the hell that even means and to talk to me like a normal person instead of a 12 year old with their first phone. Apparently it means "oh my ****". What the hell!? That's not even a thing people say! How was I supposed to know what that meant if no one even says it? So, I told her all that and it made me, a 17 year old, feel like I'm 35.

Well, there goes everyone on the site. Almost. Maybe like, 5 old men saying they're 13 would be left.

it took me the longest time when i was 14 to figure out that "aight" was an actual slang term and not just a misspelling of "alright". It took a face to face example of them saying aight for me to clue in

When I was first getting accustomed to the internets I asked my cousin what "lmao" meant. He said "Laughing my ass off."

I was genuinely mad that he was laughing at my lack of knowledge until I finally figured it out...

How the hell does a bastardization of 'fixin' to' end up as urban slang?

I can only imagine that the only time a member of the urban community hears the term 'fixin' to', it's during a hate crime.

Google the etymology of "finna", it's a bastardization of fixin' to. You are wrong.
