I'm not surprised , they're all oldfags who witnessed the cold-war , they still think America isn't worse than the Soviet Union

I find it vindicating after all the Germans who said the US was a police state after Merkel feigned outrage over her phone being tapped. Meanwhile she was begging to be part of the 5 eyes. And Germans just ate it up. This is what I mean when I say Germans are delusional. Always looking for a scapegoat. Meanwhile your government is ******* you guys with your support.
User avatar #256 to #255 - internetexplain (04/26/2015) [-]
well the U.S is a police state , you're still our allies , so we don't exactly care.
User avatar #257 to #256 - damping (04/26/2015) [-]
A police state has to be totalitarian. So the US is by definition not a police state.

not a police state.....yet
User avatar #258 to #257 - internetexplain (04/26/2015) [-]
It doesn't have to be totalitarian.
I don't know which ass your pulled that definition out of, but last time I checked, police state is subjective and depends on how strongly the government emphasizes security.

Alright dude. Here we go.

Can you stand the hypocrisy of your government? They condemned the US spying program, yet have been receiving information from us for years. And article just came out saying the only reason you guys didn't give Snowden asylum is because we threatened to cut you guys off from the 14 eyes.

Your government treats you guys like you are idiots and you guys just accept it. Never have I ever seen a group of people who trusted their government and their actions so much. And why? Germany's fiscal policies are ruining the economies of Europe, and reducing the value of the Euro effectively reducing the working classes wages and savings to help export companies. But every German I have ever talked to praises them for these things. The German debt per capita is higher than the American debt per capita.

The reason we don't have universal healthcare and free education is because Americans do not trust our government. It is in our blood. Our entire constitution with checks and balances was because the founding fathers did not trust the government.

You guys are decommissioning your nuclear power plants and moving to dirty coal, and all I hear is praise. It seems Germans have a problem when it comes to trusting their government.
User avatar #210 to #209 - internetexplain (03/21/2015) [-]
Well first of all there's the cultural factor , for millenia Germans have been subject to several dozens of Monarchies , we were one of the latest countries in Europe to embrace even basic democratic values , it's in our blood to follow a great personality to the very end , as we only have known democracy for 60 out of over 4000 years.

Secondly there's the demographics factor , Germany has a reverse demographic pyramid , all the people above 50 years of age combined outnumber all younger ones combined almost 2:1 , and these oldfags are still clinging onto more traditional values

Thirdly the Universal healthcare , that one is simple , it's been around for 150 years and we haven't changed it since , neither the Weimar republic nor Nazi Germany made a change to it , let alone abolish it , it's a solid system that only now starts becoming problematic due to demographics

Fourthly the wages and EU.
I don't know a whole lot about the EU and frankly the only reason I care about it is because I want to become a politician and turn the EU into a German-run nation-state. Wages however is fairly complicated , but simply put , despite cultural changes between old and new generations , we still value work very highly and as long as a German has work he doesn't care whether he can live from it or not , because of that it's fairly simple in Germany to pass laws that reduce the living standard of workers , and since we have the necessary institutions for that , we are effectively bringing back slavery , between 5 and 20 % of our population have already become subject of our modern slavery.

Now , about the spying program , it's politics , it's painfully obvious that our security agencies have known about it , because we signed a treaty in 2004 to work together with U.S secret services that helped us spy on our population and increase relationships with Bush. The treaty officially ran out in 2008 , but I assume they signed a new unofficial treaty with Obama , because if either the Government or the German secret services didn't know about the spying , then that would imply that we're that incompetent , and what sounds more realistic to you , Our government not knowing that the U.S spies on us , or Our Government knowing that the U.S spies on us and pretending not to to keep the population at peace?
User avatar #211 to #210 - damping (03/22/2015) [-]
Obviously your government was feigning outrage. But most Germans can't see that. Just like they can't see how the government is slowly reducing the power of the working class. It absolutely amazes me. You can call Americans stupid, but we don't take **** from our government. We call them out for everything. Our approval is at like 8%.
User avatar #212 to #211 - internetexplain (03/22/2015) [-]
Fun , well Germany also has a weird phenomenon that happened with folks like Bismarck , Hitler and even Merkel , it's when the country really hates the governmnent , but loves the leader of the government.

our approval rate here is at 30% , Merkels approval rate however is at 70
User avatar #213 to #212 - damping (03/22/2015) [-]
Sounds like you guys want a dictator.
User avatar #214 to #213 - internetexplain (03/22/2015) [-]
Dictator , King , Emperor , it doesn't really matter , even though most of us want to maintain democracy , we also would like the responsibility of maintaining it gone , like I said , it's in our blood to follow great leaders.

Now if we could just find a way to have democracy and dictatorship at the same time , I think Nazis , Communists , Conservatives , Liberals and Fundamentalists would all be lying in each others arms , crying tears of joy.
User avatar #193 - internetexplain (03/20/2015) [-]

You mean like what will always happen?

Just like pure capitalism should work theoretically if people didn't abuse the system.
User avatar #176 to #175 - internetexplain (03/02/2015) [-]
yes and no.
Yes on the first.
No on the capitalism part.
Capitalism works even with corruption , the thing with capitalism is capitalism itself.
A capitalist economy relies on Banks , without banks that take interest , an economy would no longer be capitalist.
And the problem with Interest is , it creates a spiral of wealth. The wealthy grow wealthier and the poor grow poorer , both at an ever increasing rate , solely , because of interest.

Without interest , capitalism is no longer capitalism , it would be more like , the economy of feudal europe.
User avatar #178 to #177 - internetexplain (03/02/2015) [-]
pretty much yeah.
I'm not complaining about capitalism by no means.
and I'm on the losing end here living in (relative) poverty.
the system is working , it enables me to have luxuries despite being poor.
#179 to #178 - damping (03/02/2015) [-]
To me the system has failed if poor people are living with luxuries.

User avatar #180 to #179 - internetexplain (03/02/2015) [-]
You sure about that?
Do you know how economy works?
Statistically , half of your country lives in poverty since you have a severe lack of " middle-class " and yet , soccer moms have cars , computers and phones , all of which count as luxuries.
#181 to #180 - damping (03/02/2015) [-]
If everyone has luxuries, they are not luxuries.

Also, half our country isn't below the poverty line. But 100% of me is in the 1%.
User avatar #183 to #181 - internetexplain (03/03/2015) [-]
so say you earn 1900 €
You have to pay 1000€ of that every month for all of your basic needs like food , rent , taxes etc.
Then that means you have 900€ left to spend on **** like going out , or buying a new iPhone.

Congratulations , you live in (european) poverty.
User avatar #186 to #183 - damping (03/03/2015) [-]
Actually it is poor. I forgot I was paid bi-weekly.
User avatar #185 to #183 - damping (03/03/2015) [-]
Europoors gonna be poor. $900 a month to spend on ******** ? I'm sorry, that isn't poverty brah. Maybe $900 to spend a year.
User avatar #188 to #185 - internetexplain (03/03/2015) [-]
or however you spell that word
User avatar #187 to #185 - internetexplain (03/03/2015) [-]
Exactly my point , being middle-class is considered poor in Europe , that just how filthy rich we are.
in most non-european countries , I'd probably count as higher-middle class , whereas in Germany I count as empoverished.
User avatar #191 to #190 - internetexplain (03/03/2015) [-]
Kek.
Also , on the low wages paid in Germany , that's because our economy runs on underpaying workers.
We reached the point where we legalized slavery under a different name , it's ridiculous , and I love it.
User avatar #192 to #191 - damping (03/03/2015) [-]
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Median_household_income#cite_note-3

Ireland may be the worst case of outliers the world has ever seen. Also, see note at bottom of table.
User avatar #182 to #181 - internetexplain (03/03/2015) [-]
well , european defintions of relative and absolute poverty as well as luxuries beg to differ.

Everything that isn't an essential to work and exist is a luxury.
Everyone who has less than 1000 € to spend on luxuries in a month lives in relative poverty.
Everyone who has less than 100€ to spend on essentials in a month , lives in absolute poverty.
User avatar #184 to #182 - damping (03/03/2015) [-]
You are taking me too seriously. Jesus man. At least Konradkurze gets it after a while.

That German humor coming through again.

The Median household income in the US is $ 55000. That is the median, not mean, so outliers don't affect that. If you really think most Americans live in poverty you are delusional.

Somewhat. My point is that he is leagues smarter than the Germans I have met on here.

he stopped before i did , so i consider that winning on my end.

as i said , *********** isn't about logic , the winner is the one who leaves last, its like a war of attrition , it doesnt matter who fought better , it matters who still stands in the end.

Dude if you think 2/3 of the world hates America you are sorely mistaken.
www.pewglobal.org/database/indicator/1/

Funny that after the Middle East, Eurofags dislike us the most (not even 50%). Literally the most clear cut case of jealousy the world has ever seen. The countries you claim we are imperialist towards actually like the US. Africans love the US and hate Europeans (gee, I wonder why). Same with Asians.

the countries I meant were actually more in the east , like the middle-east and china , I know africa loves you faggots , ever seen that post about 9/11 with some tribe sending them their most valuable animals to help?
User avatar #92 to #91 - damping (11/07/2014) [-]
50 % of Chinese actually like us though. And all of China's neighbors love us (Phillipinnes, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam).

Seriously the only countries that overall have a negative opinion of us are Muslims, Russians, Greeks and Argentinians (lol why?).

Muslims cuz you bomb them for logical reason.
Russians because you talk **** about them like we do about you.
Greeks because they are poor.
Argentinians are ******* that came to the americas as slaves , ofc they hate you even if youre not related to their slavery in any way.

DREAM STORY TIME ************

The dream starts with me, locked inside what feels like some sort of shuttle pod used by NASA or some **** . I'm bound by my chest in a harness, so I can't get out once I get in, but before I lock in, I hug somebody. I couldn't see her face, but I recognised her figure and hair to be someone I know. She hands me a note, presumably a note to remember her by, as if I was not going to see her for quite some time. I didn't get a chance to read it, but she rolled it up with some other papers I needed with me, and I got in and she held my hand once more before the door closed and I was stuck. This is when the dream gets a bit more strange. I feel an upward force underneath, and then my vision starts to blur. I realise that I'm travelling upwards, and of course, I'm in some sort of individual rocket pod. (Stupid idea, but it's a dream.) I then realize that I have broken through the o-zone layer and I am now floating in space, and I could feel the floating and everything. Trippy **** .
I come to realise that I am holding those papers in my hand, and I look around for a place to put them. I looked up and saw an orange/red coloured light, like an emergency light or the one on top of vans, and then I spot a little thing to the right of the door. Thinking it's to put personal belongings in, I push the lid back and place the rolled up papers in and close it. Then, to my extreme alarm and disappointment, the papers shoot out into space and away from this pod, and my notes and letter are now floating through space like the iconic teapot.
I mourn the loss of these for a while, and then the pods dock into a space station suspended in, you guessed it, space. I don't know where exactly or what planets it was close to, but yeah, I feel a heavy bump hit and I've docked. We've docked.
I wait a while, and the door slides. Not sure which way. My harness raises like on a rollercoaster, and I step out. I head up some stairs, and head into a room.
User avatar #64 to #63 - sciencexplain (08/06/2014) [-]
The freaky part is, the stairs and room were of my old science block in secondary school. I head through the door of class Science-21, and I'm in a black room with glass panels. I see my friends standing there, all grouped up and they were waiting for me. I look out of the window and look into the space surrounding. (Bear in mind that the room was NOTHING like my Science-21 classroom, but it was really small and black instead of white and there was a door on the right, but it was locked.) I started talking to everyone, but I can't remember what I said to them. I pointed out to one guy called Jordan that whilst the stairs and corridor behaved like on Earth and there was gravity, this black room was like the moon, and there was a lack of gravity. I must have said that it was because they wanted us to think our situation was cool. There was a ledge by the windows, probably to sit on whilst we waited, and I started doing low-gravity backflips off of them, and it was just like being in space and the vision was the same and everything. It was ******* crazy. Everyone thought it was cool and me and Jordan started doing them, but I hit the floor on the 2nd one. It wasn't a hard impact at all. Eventually, someone came to get us and I think they were standing in an alcove of the 2nd floor of the Science tower. They were already there in the alcove bit, I walked over, and told them about how I lost the letter from the girl. Some of the girls were crying about it for some reason, and they all comforted me about it, as if they knew how hard it was for me to have to leave her. They comforted me for a while, but then I told them that I lost the other papers and that.
User avatar #65 to #64 - sciencexplain (08/06/2014) [-]
We all mentioned it to the staff there, who happened to be my Secondary school teachers. One wrote one of them up for me, and it turns out that the paper was important because it was an exercise table, because in space, your muscles get weak if you don't train them, even though the gravity was like on Earth. I didn't think much of the logical error in my dream, but took the paper and I don't remember what I did with it.
Now, this is where my memories of the dream start to get patchy and the connections and ordering become a bit confused and muddled. I'll try my best to remember things from here, but I can't be sure they were ordered right.
The next thing I remember, I think I was heading into the classroom. Now, assuming we were in space and we're students, I deciphered within my dream that our purpose there was to be educated on space in the human race's efforts to expand out of Earth and to new places and whatever. I traipse into the class, walk to the back row and there's some **** going on, I don't know what though. I speak to one of the guys at the back called Luke, and I think he said something about organising them into groups or some **** . And then he said something and I responded with something about sharks and how the word ends in o or e, which made it different. My Secondary school maths teacher had a go at me and told me to get out. I think, in my mind, she was punishing me and in the dream, I was being sent back to Earth. I didn't want to go, but she sent me to another classroom where I met a teacher I know well from Secondary. There were 2 hats on a table, and I think one was a cliché propeller one. Don't know why. I grabbed it, went back to her, and then I saw her coming towards me and I apologised for my behaviour. Can't remember anything else, but I get the feeling that I was kept on up there.
User avatar #66 to #65 - sciencexplain (08/06/2014) [-]
This dream is really distressing for me, because I feel like the person who handed me the letter is so important to me and that it bears significance, but I don't know who they are. Even with all of my friends, I still felt empty without that person and felt regret, but I also dealt with my education and career path too.

I understand your concern, I got a similar vibe reading your dream.
Now before I go on making any speculations , bear in mind that ALL dreams as nonsensical as they sometimes seem , are representations of your experiences and memories. Memories on top of that , can and will be distorted over time, due to how the process of making memories works.

So, I assume, that perhaps the mysterious girl may have been a potential love interest you met once, ya know those "love on first sight" cases that most people just ignore and label them as an "its just hormones" case.
The papers you seem to have lost at first may be a reminder that you easily forget about things - correct me if I'm wrong here.
The stairs are simple : probably a place you've seen or liked a lot in your school time.
The black room , well, I really don't know what to make of it. I'd say it fits together with the whole space/astronaut theme which gives me think : did you ever want to be an astronaut or do you have a strong interest in space? If yes , it's probably your desire to explore the universe, if not however , well I don't know, I'm no Psychiatrist.

On a related note : the fact you remember this dream so vividly even after almost a day, is what throws me off the most. It must be a seriously important message/reminder of something if you remember it THIS well.
User avatar #69 to #67 - sciencexplain (08/07/2014) [-]
A lot of it fits into my actual thoughts and desires, I must say. The science block of my Secondary school and the science teachers there were the people and places that gave birth to my great love for science. I've always loved space and science-fiction, and the wonders of gravity in space always plagued my mind and made me desire for a chance to experience those. Those are possible reasons for why it was space, but I leave my mind open for potential.

It's true that I forget easily, but I think that maybe the way I lost them was not forgetting but a loss due to my inexperience and lack of understanding of a situation. I didn't see the girl's face, but I have around 2 people that it could be, one of whom I have never met before. If this is my potential love interest, I feel like my brain is telling me that I should be aware of my situation with this "love interest" or I could potentially lose her, but I feel like I might be reading into it too much.

I, too, was insanely stunned when I woke up and realized how much I could remember, and made a mad dash to scribble it all down so I didn't forget it. The process of thoughts was blurred, but the vivid details of space and that are solid in my mind, as if I lived it and was using photographs to remember. The amount of detail is scaring me to say the least, but whilst I'm not one for superstitious beliefs and the like, I feel a lot different and quite thrown off about this. I don't have access to a psychiatrist at the moment, but there is a lot of home psychiatry education that I can do to help my situation. Thanks for this, it really helps to know that someone else considers my situation strange. I feel a little better, but still haunted over what it could mean.

Well, good to know I haven't lost my touch.
I'm intending to Psychology and History once I enter university, needless to say I'm getting myself a ton of knowledge about these things beforehand.
I also practice Psychology a lot IRL, playing substitute psychiatrist for people who can't afford it , or are afraid to do. I haven't done it in a while, but some of these people had serious issues.
So yeah, good to know I wasn't wrong with my assumptions.
User avatar #71 to #70 - sciencexplain (08/07/2014) [-]
Keep the senses sharp and the mind satiated of knowledge. Don't lose the edge. It's a talent and a skill, and people always need help from their good friends. I'll be back with whatever I learn or find soon.
