You better start studying hard then. Once you get a mindset for this stuff it comes pretty easy. I got my A+ last week. I have about 3 more certs to go + a degree. The A+ is the most comprehensive cert offered by CompTIA. After you get that you get tests like Linux+, Networking+, and Security+ which only require 1 test each and take less questions. I had a good grasp on the command line because I've been using Linux for several years as my main OS and that part came pretty easy. Also a lot questions deal with RAID and networking on the 802 while the 801 deals with memorizing hardware specs, printers, and installing OSs. Build a home network, learn how to build a NAS, play with VMs, configure a firewall, set up a windows domain. Start treating tech as a hobby and not just something to study like a job or chore.

Also, don't worry about me treating this like a job. I wanted to get into tech earlier but my mother disapproved. She wanted me to become a teacher. So I started to get a degree in teaching and political science. But I was ******* hating every moment of it. Once I got my degree, I told my mom I wasn't going to do anything with it and start on something I actually want to be a part of.
She's respecting my wishes even though she still thinks it's not a good idea. Downside, though, is I have to pick up a second job. She is supporting me but not as much now.
Even though I just started, I have been loving every moment of the time I've been in class. I have latched on to the hardware bits and even taken some old computers we don't use anymore and started dismantling and reassembling them. I really want to buy parts to build my own computer but cash is really tight right now.

I used networking to host my own things. I bought a seedox and am saving up for an NAS/virtualization server. I'm going to use proxmox to virtualize freenas, ubuntu, and windows server 2012 and put it behind a separate pfsense firewall. I was going to block the windows 10 telemetry servers in the firewall and use windows server as a domain controller for my family's laptops. On ubuntu I was going to install freeradius and openvpn. I'm going to use vfio passthrough to give the freenas vm direct access to the RAID controller to hold all my torrented music and movies as well as backup things. I'll put the ubuntu vm behind a DMZ opening the ports required to use openvpn and configure the laptops to logon to the radius wifi on boot to sign into the domain. openvpn would be for securely doing things like banking on public wifi and accessing network resources remotely.
while studying for the A+ I was scoring 95+ consistently in transcender and compass practice exams which I'd do about 5-10 times a day. I also have an interest in programming and was planning to start learning data structures and algorithms in java now that I've learned OOP.
