RO1 was a Goddamned classic and was the first game I owned that got me on Steam. RO2 met and raised the bar, not to mention the Devs are great, they took all the modders from RO1 who made several of the most popular mods (Carpathian Crosses, Darkest Hour and Mare Nostrum) and went "Hey, we're going to hire you and let you guys make an expansion for Red Orchestra 2 with our engine, total creative freedom."

teltjeger (12/30/2015) [-] RO2 is just fantastic. The feel you get when you get of a perfect shot on a running target with your standard rifle. Or when you get into the perfect flanking position with the MG34/42 and just wreck anything that enters your cone of fire.
Or one of my favourite ways to spend some spare time on the eastern front. By sneaking closer and closer to a tank, before you pop out of cover doing a heroic sprint before throwing your AT-grenade. Surviving to kill the next one is a great bonus too.
Granted, there are a few times when you just get frustrated by enemy artillery, well protected tanks/tanks staying far away raping your team with its machineguns. And ofc the random shots from nowhereUsually from a teammate just when you reach somewhere important Or the classic, grenade bounces off something, killing you and everybody else in the room with you.
Still a fantastic game though.

monfan (12/30/2015) [-] So this got me to redownload the game. The realism is great. But the AI making friendly soldiers literally run back and forth in a trench until I day and take control is just a tad off putting

gorathsm (12/29/2015) [-] Was charging an american fortification and just as I reached it and leaped inside I was clipped by a flame thrower, landed right in front of a fellow soldier and screamed for a good ten seconds as he watch me burn. War is hell.
