I was really confused when the fire emblem characters got in, since I had never even heard of the game.
Fire Emblem's really popular in Japan, and has been picking up steam in the US since GameBoy Advance and GameCube were the new hotness.
Maybe it's because I was a kid, maybe because I didn't know any better, but I didn't mind Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. Granted I didn't play the originals and I was but a wee lad.
I never played any other Banjo-Kazooie game, but holy **** did I love Nuts & Bolts.
An open world game where you can build your own vehicles and they can be and do ANYTHING? Holy ******* tits sign me the **** up good **** that's some good **** right there.
Like, that was one of the games I got 100% on. Well, I did absolutely everything except a single mission because I just couldn't get it perfect so I said **** it.
But yeah, Nuts & Bolts was fun as **** .

It was more of the nonsense that they bashed gaming as a whole at the beginning, and made fun of the old games, then created an empty world for the sole purpose of forcing the car mechanic.
5/10 in my eyes. not unplayable but not a B&K game either.

Yeah. That part was... What the hell was  that? It sounded like the developers lamenting the fact that they were barred from making an actual B&K game.
I won't lie, I was mega anally annihilated. I was just starting to play vidya when banjo & kazooie got bought for me. Then a sequel was coming out. It was **************** . Then another sequel is scheduled.
I was prepared to have the best anal blasting of my lifetime with another B&K game.
But it wasn't a B&K game
still decent game, 6/10

Don't justify liking a game because you'll think people will disagree with you. I enjoyed nuts and bolts.
I also didn't get mad when mario kart wasn't exactly like the super mario bros platformers. 2 different genres with the same characters. The only hate that nuts and bolts gets is from the fanboys who wanted banjo kazooie 3 and didn't get it.

I totally agree. Most people who have actually played all three games agree that N&B is a pretty good game, but not a good BANJO game. Personally I loved it apart from the maps being too small and having too much ground clutter, but it could just have easily been an entirely new franchise instead of B&K related.
I think we have enough 3rd party stuff, minus snake.
how bout we get some more zelda chars?

Idunno, midna?
Zelda does have a bunch of characters you can take from that aren't the Swordmen people keep complaining about.
it doesn't matter if they "matter" in universe, all that matters is that they'd be a interesting addition.

I wouldn't mind getting a Skullkid, Impa, Darunia etc., or Xanto, tbh. I think they can probably make it work. I get his point that the three he mentioned are the intemporal main characters, appearing in almost all Zelda games. Then again, there's plenty of characters in Smash that only appear in one of the games of their franchise, don't they?
Yup, why not take one that was important for just 1 game? i mean Dark Pit and Dr.Mario made it so why not?
Personally i just want people to stop suggesting Non-nintendo characters, i know Sakurai somwhow managed to get Cloud and Ryu, but there would have to have been some sort of deal struck for something like that to happen. inb4 Mario in the next street fighter

Speaking of Dark Pit, I really don't understand what even changes between him and regular Pit. They seem to have exactly the same skillset. Is one more powerful/slow than the other, like the SSBM Falcon/Ganondorf - Fox/Falco - Dr.Mario/Mario ?
They already had Link in Soul Calibur II, maybe we'll see some more of that, idk. But yeah, I agree that spamming non-Nintendo characters kind of negates the whole point of Smash Bros., I mean the gist of the game is basically "Nintendo characters get together and start a Fight Club" so it would make sense that they add more Nintendo characters rather than what they're doing. Then again, I also agree that we've got a bit too many Fire Emblem guys, although I do love me some Ike domination.

I think they literally only have different Final Smashes.
From what i've seen atleast. might be some difference in the actual data.
Eh the big reason i'm not bothered by the over saturation is that this one actually looks really need with the shape-shifting and jojo posing.

man, i just think they need to stop putting tri-hardy anime characters into smash, having 1 or two is fine, but the bench keeps growing and i feel like its just like 4 player street fighter or something sometimes.

I do find it weird that Cloud is on the roster. None of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII games came out on any Nintendo consoles. I like Cloud and FF7, although its really strange.
I think Crono or Cecil may have been good choices. But since there are a lot of sword users, maybe Terra.
The Warrior of Light is also a good choice, since he "debuted" on the NES.
I also though since Dragon Quest is big in Japan, possibly Loto, or his descendant from DQ1.
As for Fire Emblem, it is much bigger in Japan, and has been running for much longer. So it's not as bad.
Street fighter was extremely popular on home consoles, especially on the SNES, as it had all the buttons you needed. Basically, Nintendo lost a lot of brand characters after the Playstation hit (Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Megaman and Megaman X, etc.).
As for me, I always wanted Megaman in Super Smash brothers, and Firebrand in Marvel VS Capcom, so I got my wish.

Honestly I don't think we need another swordsman like Cloud, Crono, or Cecil We have way to many as it is. But truthfully I'd love to see cecil, have him act like zelda and be able to change between Dark Knight and Paladin at will would be so damn awesome. . What they should have added was Kain Highwind, Has a spear, decent mobility, you just know that jump attack will be his smash.
Yeah Terra would be cool to have. Her smash could be her esper form, lots of esper assist trophies could be added as well. Rydia would also be a great addition, She could play just like the pokemon trainer and have a few select summons that she could cycle through and her smash be summoning leviathan or something.
The thing about Modern Final Fantasies is that they all have a main character
Cloud
Lightning
Squall
Older ones really didn't, par Cecil. It was about a group or individuals with no central leader. This is why you'll never see an older one in Smash, as every character in Smash is a main character in their games. Except for the pokemon.
FF6 is my favorite, but if you ask someone who the main character is, you'll get 6 different answers. Personally for me it's Terra, I would love to see her in a Smash or a reboot, but Squares modern artstyle is so ******* bad that I'd prefer her to just remain in the past.

That's partially true, as FF1 and FF3 used Classes instead of Characters.
But FF2 had Firion, FF5 had Bartz.
As for FF6, Terra is usually seen as the main character, as she is on most promotional artwork, chosen for Dissidia, etc.. I always felt Locke was second.
I just find it weird, because FF7 was kind of a slightly controversial game when it came out. It was the first time Squaresoft ended it's exclusive contract with Nintendo in favor of Sony's Playstation. Main series FF games have never come out on Nintendo consoles since, except for ports and remakes (i.e. GBA ports)

They did a good job of giving everybody their own decent story though, apart from Umaro and Gogo. It's one of the things that made FF6 so great: You didn't have any faceless characters with no story that exist just to fill a slot, and it didn't really enforce the idea that one character is the leader, and the rest are just following him/her around.
