This is so incredibly frustrating. Rather than just accept the fact that you are doing something illegal and got caught, they try to fight their way out through words and bluffing.

I mean, for ***** sake, can I get a 'OBEY THE LAW ASSHOLE' gif for how I feel?
#222 to #179 - dharkmoswen (12/21/2015) [-]
This close enough?

And I gave you the wrong you're welcome... Let's try this again!

This is one of those crazy conspiracy nuttbag things. I've got an uncle trying to sell that kinda **** , and you know it actually does sortof make sense (the idea being that because driving is so necessary in society you should be able to drive without a license and the fees and **** that come with it) but the reality is that nobody gives a **** and a just good enough argument can be made for requiring a drivers license to drive that it'll never change.
I think people like that don't realize that they're not changing anything, and all they're going to accomplish is getting in more trouble.
User avatar #205 to #178 - lolollo (12/21/2015) [-]
Except you kinda do need a license, and to pay those fees which ultimate prove you know what you're doing, and are responsible enough to opporatr that vehicle, which is what it means by "privilege". That and the fact that it's a 2 ton screaming Metal death trap. People die.
User avatar #228 to #205 - derpthefifth (12/21/2015) [-]
See the argument is that by denying someone a drivers license, or by insisting they have one in order to drive, you're restricting their right to travel freely because, as we all know (At least in the US) driving is a necessity. I'm not saying i agree with the argument because like you said giant metal death trap, but the argument makes a certain sort of sense when you're more concerned with freedom than safety. Seriously though you can't live in the US and not drive, well you can but the list of extra ******** you've got to go through on account of not driving is staggering.
User avatar #232 to #228 - lolollo (12/21/2015) [-]
In order for them to be hindering their rights to travel, they would need to be detaining them to one spot. You're more than capable of walking, biking, scooting, running, rollerblading, heely-ing, crabwalking, or scussorkicking wherever the **** you need, so long as it doesn't break any secondary laws. You can't go busting in someone's private property while shouting "don't hinder my right to travel!" Its all based on the social contract, which is just a darker version of the Golden rule. The people in the content were demanding their "right" to free travel while endangerous everyone else by speeding, driving while high, etc. If you're incapable of responsibly driving, you lose the privilege to do so, and while I would be cross if I ever fit in that category, I would be a major cockohllic to pose the argument I should be an exception.
User avatar #237 to #232 - derpthefifth (12/21/2015) [-]
I agree with you, i've just got a little more sympathy i guess. My uncle is on a fixed income and lost his license because of a couple unpaid parking tickets which he actually couldn't afford to pay, the nearest grocery store is like a half hour drive away and he's not able to move closer because he doesn't have the money to move..... I still don't think they should rewrite entire laws just for a few people such as him, but seeing his circumstances gives the point a little more weight for me personally.
#174 - inkon (12/21/2015) [-]
not american, not sure whose side am i supposed to be on? are the police being brutal or are the people being dicks? to me the people should in theory be obeying police but i have no idea whether the laws they cite are legit etc

And on this day, anon bravely made his statement.
User avatar #241 - keyebaus (12/21/2015) [-]
The people doing this might be trying to prevent getting ****** by corrupt cops who might plant drugs on them or something. I still think that they're pricks and you should just trust that a cop is there to protect you, but that could be why they refuse to let officers search their stuff and whatnot...

Can someone tell me why the cops in America get so angry so fast?
I mean, most of these were legitimate assholes the cops are dealing with, but that doesn't give the cops reason to react so unprofessionally.
Most of the cops lost their patience way to fast.

The main point here is the guy at 13 mins. The first cop stuttered and didn't answer his questions. The answer is yes, he is being detained, but the cop did not reply. The second cop then forced his door open demanding his license and insurance and tried to imply that the man was not cooperating, but the guy was 100% correct, the cops had not yet asked for his papers and when they finally did he immediately presented them.
I would not have acted as cool as this guy in that situation (having my door forcefully ripped open when just trying to ask a simple question, no matter how silly the question may seem). That second cop escalated the situation way beyond what was necessary. I was really glad to see them let that guy go because he truly did nothing wrong, and certainly didn't deserve the treatment he got.
The guy was being a bit of a dick, but to be honest, he probably felt that he is simply protecting his rights. With all the fear tactics and "bad cop" garbage on the news, I can't say I blame him.

So I will ask again, to all the Americans out there, why do your cops lose their cool so fast?
Not a single one of these people deserved the forceful physical treatment (except of course for the guy who ran from the breathalyzer stop).

Oh, and one last thing. The cop tazed the man with his child present. Holy **** man, way to **** up a kid over nothing. Holyyy **** .
#235 to #219 - anon (12/21/2015) [-]
Oh, and I just watched the court room dude taze the guy with the camera. jesus ******* christ, this is even worse. Totally, completely and unnecessary use of force, and that man did in fact unlawfully assault him with the taser, he was doing nothing wrong.
The man was 100% correct, the only reason not to allow cameras is to hide wrong doing, and I for one would not stand for it.

Typical Fj, thumbing me down because of a different point of view instead of trying to partake in a logical argument.
This is why I don't log in, this website disgusts me.

Do people still honestly think that being told not to move or that they can't proceed is the same as being detained? Honestly, it makes no goddamn sense.
User avatar #167 - deaminzaints (12/21/2015) [-]
"I DO NOT CONSENT!"

what, you think you can avoid everything by saying you dont consent to it? ******* tumblr man...
User avatar #152 - hudis (12/21/2015) [-]
Poor kid in the second video. That's not even funny if you think about what the child takes away from that experience.
