Do you start with, for the examples above, "so you like coffee?" or "this is a pretty great metro stop," or what?

I usually don't post much but since this seems relevant I'll talk about it

>Super depressed and lonely so I start investing time into mmos
>Make friends with many people and one girl in particular
>Come online everyday and hang out and talk for hours
>Fast forward 2 years and we both quit the game and stay in touch
>Find out more about her as time goes on including where she lives
>She lives in New York while I live all the way across the country in Oregon
>Fast forward to this year and I finally take time off to go visit her for the first time
>Have some of the most fun I've ever had in my life
>I wasn't sure how I felt until the moment I first laid eyes on her.
>Fall head over heels for the first time in my life
>There is one huge catch though
>Has a boyfriend
>At the end of the trip I never spoke a word of this to her and I still feel like it was the right decision
>However I've become the "Waiting here till your break up guy " *Long distance edition
>Still best friends and talk daily but things seem hopeless at this point

Daemmerung (12/17/2015) [-] Move on, man. Learn from my mistakes, it's a waste of time and pathetic to cling to someone like that. I'm not saying that you need to completely shun her, she's your best friend after all and I can respect that, but go out some time, meet irl friends, and stay open-minded. You never know who you might meet.

jkaizoku (12/17/2015) [-] I've accepted the fact I'm not ready for a gf. It would be great and I know I'd like it, but at this point in my life it ain't gonna happen. For one I'm pretty much married to school (eng major) so that consumes half of my time and then I also play on sports teams so that's another third and then I only have some time for myself. Fitting a relationship into that would just be rushed and end poorly. So I'm not even worried about it now, only goal is improving myself and learnin to love me for me.

Don't sit around in fear, you have to move quick. I ended up getting my girl but I took too long, bad **** happened in that time and it doomed our relationship. Also, don't get wasted with the intention of blurting out the way you feel just because you expect her to reject you and you are trying to get it over and done with to get out of the obsession. Do it sober.

I realized this at some point back in high school. Stopped caring about the one, found a nice new girl and dated her for a while (eventually she started changing and broke up with me, felt awful at first but I'm glad she did because she's a completely different person now and not for the better).
Problem is, now I can't even meet women who interest me. Sure there are plenty that might be physically attractive but it's so hard to find one that shares any of my hobbies/interests and isn't taken.

I mean obviously that's not it, but my flawed idea of the perfect life is me and a significant other just chilling most days, occasionally going out to do stuff, but mostly stuff most people find boring or pointless
