Preparing for natural disaster is being paranoid?

Let me know how you get along after being trapped in your home for 2 weeks without food or water.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and I've never experienced anything crazy like that here
#195 - lujan ONLINE (12/15/2015) [-]
Same exact thing happens in the South if there's a tornado warning or hurricane warning.
User avatar #196 to #195 - mondominiman (12/15/2015) [-]
If they catch wind of a tornado will the stores increase prices to profit off a natural disaster
#197 to #196 - lujan ONLINE (12/15/2015) [-]
I've never actually looked to see. That's a good question. But they probably do.

***** people panicked over a ******* blizzard? wtf are they that rare in the us?
User avatar #171 to #95 - vgmddg (12/15/2015) [-]
Not really. People just tend to overreact when they hear about heavy weather. For example, what if the power goes out or the roads become unsafe to drive on because of ice? Some react more than others, depending on where they are and where they grew up.
Sometimes it's founded, like if there's repeated serious weather that makes driving precarious. The places where they close the schools for under 2 inches are silly.

Wait, I live in Fort Wayne and what blizzard?

"Even the broken eggs were bought"

I'm pretty sure they can't sell them. It's a huge health risk. Besides, how do they expect the eggs to last through a blizzard?

Gotta love the taste of salmonella.
#111 to #61 - anon (12/15/2015) [-]
sometimes you can find broken eggs in the boxes. ALWAYS check all the eggs
User avatar #112 to #111 - abesimpson (12/15/2015) [-]
That's true. But they can't knowingly sell you broken eggs. Like if the carton of eggs was drooping
, for example.
User avatar #52 - iridium (12/15/2015) [-]
At least they bought water.

I was expecting there to be a picture of a ton of water and a bunch of empty soda fridges.

I can't imagine being that afraid of a little bit of snow. I live in winnipeg where it goes down to -40 with a basically infinite amount of snow. Just shovel your driveway!!! It's not hard.
#46 - nagafever (12/15/2015) [-]
**nagafever used "*roll picture*"**
**nagafever rolled image** how long does the 50% chemically induced milk in 'muricuh last? the one i drink here in norway normally lasts about a week, but i saw my aunt drink some ****** kind without the **** people are normally allergic to and that had 4 months durability
User avatar #47 to #46 - nagafever (12/15/2015) [-]
lactose intolerant that's the word
User avatar #62 to #46 - abesimpson (12/15/2015) [-]
The durability of milk is influenced by the thermic treatment it received:

- Pasteurisation is done with mildly high temperatures for a short amount of time, only killing dangerous bacteria but leaving non dangerous life forms. The benefit of this is that the milk loses less properties but the bad thing is that it lasts a lot less (about a week) and must be refrigerated at all times.

- the most common form of milk is UHT milk. The process kills off pretty much everything using very high temperatures for a long time. It doesn't have to be refrigerated and it lasts for quite a while.

In my opinion they both taste pretty much the same but some people prefer pasteurised milk.

User avatar #130 to #45 - ipwnallnubz (12/15/2015) [-]
This must be from some time ago. It's been in the upper 50s and even the 60s the last week. It's insane. ******* El Nino, man.
User avatar #182 to #130 - revansfirst (12/15/2015) [-]
Prolly from the massive blizzards we got a couple years back, 2013 I think. like -40 degree windchill.
User avatar #249 to #182 - ipwnallnubz (12/16/2015) [-]
Yeah, my grandpa decided that was the perfect time to go snowblow the driveway. We had to jumpstart the tractor at least twice before he decided to come back inside.
