In a speech at the University of Chicago on Friday, the F.B.I. director said there might be many factors — like cheaper drugs and easier access to guns — that had spawned an increase in crime. But none of them were as convincing to him as the notion that officers were afraid to get out of their patrol cars and deal directly with people on the street because the officers were afraid their interactions would be caught on video.
Mr. Comey acknowledged there was no data to back it up, but he said law enforcement leaders and officers had told him it was affecting policing.

If I just downvote you, you're probably going to think you're right, but that your opinion is just unpopular.
If I leave a comment, maybe you'll be provoked into thinking about your position on the matter.
The fact is, if a cop is dealing with a violent individual, we can't strip the officer's rights to defend himself by saying he can't return force with force. How would you even expect them to enforce the law?
Granted, this is just a ****** teen, but nevertheless... most people should recognize that a police officer is asking them to leave the room and they should just comply. If she wasn't such a cunt, the worst thing she would have gotten is like 30 minutes in the office.

There was no force to return and the cop was not defending himself. A teen was not cooperating, that's no justification to pull her out of the chair with a choke hold and throw her on the ground.
Your angle is that she was behaving like a cunt and deserved to be treated like one. But that's not for a cop to decide, even the US has judges to decide what punishment someone should get.

I don't even see where she was "thrown" as much as it was a fall. And what was he supposed to do then? just stand there and not do his job? Again, are they not allowed to have any authority?
and, it is for the cop to decide. They can't wait for the US judges to weigh in on every single situation. That is the point of being a cop. That is the whole point of hiring cops who are competent. the Judges are meant to review the cases if there the police are suspected of not doing their job

You all throw that racism word around so much that it stops having any meaning. You can call this man racist all you want, but all I see is a man frustrated by seeing people use that word to gain advantage not equality.
He isn't the first person to draw that distinction between black people and he won't be the last.
It's a shame really though, because the equal rights movement was started so they could have a CHANCE to have higher education, better jobs, to prove themselves as a group and the right to "pursue" happiness. But once they started getting advantages via government and media hype, they started degenerating and becoming just as he says lazy.
It's sad that the reality of this story is that we really do need to start thinking about placing black police officers in charge of black communities. I'm not saying it is right or white officers should refuse service, but a police officer has a job to do and we are forcing him to risk his life with his arms tied behind his back. People often need the help of the police, but it looks like the only way to send in people that can do that job to its full degree.
Sadly I am seeing the same results with the feminist movement. Its clouding real problems which arent limited to women and making people who want things given to them. Reward systems for things that aren't work related.

Those who want to integrate and get on in life do, they go to college and get good jobs, get a family, move out of the ghetto and get a house in the burbs. It's not as difficult as they like to make out, there is no color coded glass ceiling, if they want to get a good job, they get educated, they don't **** around with the police or get themselves expelled. They buckle down, don't give in to peer pressure from the "gangstas" and improve their lot in life.

I can see how many might agree with this idea, but what if we apply same principle to other jobs, like busdrivers and doctors or surgeons and so on? And what if its not just black people, but also jews or gays or any other group of people you think is destructive for the society?
