The guy admitted to being a shut in, thats not social at all, how good of a friend can he be if he only chats with him one day out the week? point is both parties can be good or fake friends but at least one doesn't stay holed up in their cave

REAL friends will bypass taking millions upon millions of selfies of the first and second bite of the churro they haven't even touched yet and actually socialize with the human(s) there with them (difference between vacation photos people and selfies have been taking is that they don't continuously take pictures most of the time they enjoy the vacation and take pictures when there is time).
FAKE friends, on the other hand, will take opportunities to spend time with their technology they're so addicted to instead of socializing. They will be there for you only when it pleases their needs, not yours. Going out to a baseball game and taking selfies of not even the damn game but of the not-even-bitten-into-churro is utterly ridiculous by any standards.
Both parties are bad, neither are good nor are either better then the other.

Besides, with that many girls being that sociable with each other in such a close proximity, I'm willing to bet this is some kind of field trip that most of them weren't 100% interested in attending to begin with, but the alternative was to sit in class or something.

Just wanted to point out the commentator said something like "You can talk to the person next to you, or you can just completely ignore them (by using your phone)". But 6 of them were actually talking to the person next to them, albiet about selfies. I guess that's how older generations think about technology like phones and the internet though.
