What anon tried to say, I'm sure, is that there are several that looks like wolves - at least have a lot of similarities.
Alaskan Malamute, Siberian Husky, Czech wolfdog (or just normally known, wolfdog - a breed between german shepherds and carpathian wolves. Was meant to incorporate the strength and stamina of a wolf but domesticated / temperament and intelligence of a german shepherd), Kugsha / Amerindian Malamutes, some Samoyed breeds (they vary a bit though of course), Tamaskan, Canadian Eskimo dog, utonagan.. there are more as well. Just can't think of more right now.
A lot of husky, german shepherd and malamute mixes are similar too, bred to look like wolves.

While I honestly think wolves are cool, furries have also reduced them to cringe material for me sort of

Everyone always looks at pictures of wolves like this and goes on about how they're the most majestic animals in nature.
Everyone pretends they've never seen a photo of 8 of them ripping a part a baby moose.
Because that happens.
Every day.
Nature, bitch.

the reason i said "nearly attacked and killed" is that when you are out in the woods and a pissed off wolf is coming to into your camp, looking to eat something, most times, its first one then the other. and what i know is that it looked very wolf like. no, in this day an age i wasnt certain it was or wasnt a pure blod wolf, what with having it trying to make dinner out of me, i shot first and asked later.
Did you happen to get a photo of it after you shot it? I could probably tell you for sure what it was in any case.
Even starving wolves almost never approach humans - they don't try to hunt them, and rarely even steal food from them or prey on livestock for that matter.
Virtually all "wolf attacks" on humans have either been incorrectly reported as a different type of animal mistaken for a wolf - or, the wolf was rabid.
However, coyotes, coy-dogs and stray/feral dogs - all of whom can sometimes look quite "wolfy" to the untrained eye, will occasionally engage in all of the above.
no, it was about 6 years ago. i DID get bitten once by a coyote out in mojave.
