It's fans like you that just make it all worth it.
I never really watched the Colbert Report... but goddamn I'm gonna start watching that **** right now.
I think it's kinda bad to take it too seriously. It's comedy just like ******** ! and other things. Yeah, it might have some journalistic grounds, but it's still only entertainment.

yes i do.
but i take non-canon stuff pretty seriously
i generally consider non canon storylines to be a sort of alternate timeline type deal.
where it could happen, based on the character's personalities and what is going on at the time.
i totally believe superman has the capacity to be a dictator. you know the whole "absolute power corrupts absolutely" deal.

You said it yourself, he was tricked into killing his own wife and unborn baby.
Joker broke him. If anything it proves that he's imperfect like any other hero. Makes him a bit more three dimensional if you ask me. He has the power to enslave the world and force them to be good, but he doesn't.

Taking non-canon stories seriously is a very dangerous road. Here's some examples why.
atopfourthwall.blogspot.ca/2011/02/superman-distant-fires.html
atopfourthwall.blogspot.ca/2010/04/jla-act-of-god-part-1.html
atopfourthwall.blogspot.ca/2008/12/its-bird-its-plane-well-whatever-it-is.html
Not to say there aren't awful canon stories, but still.

Also, his wife and baby's deaths triggered a nuke that wiped Metropolis off the map.

They should ditch Henry Cavill and get Stephen Colbert to play superman in the next movie.
