A response like this was really unnecessary and impulsive; no matter how ignorant a person gets, you should go down to their level by wishing them harm.

Well she IS smoking inside a public building.
User avatar #71 to #68 - digi (02/01/2014) [-]
"public" Does it say no smoking? Plus the land whale has no right to tell other people what to do.
User avatar #77 to #71 - thedutchs (02/01/2014) [-]
Public means a lot of people walk around there. Seeing that it's not outside and the smoke will linger, I think it can be considered that by social standards one should not smoke in a place like this.

Public buildings often have smoking rooms for this kind of stuff
#101 to #71 - anonymous (02/01/2014) [-]
It's actually illegal to smoke inside any public building in the US now. This was recorded AFTER that law was passed.
User avatar #91 to #71 - Degenerate (02/01/2014) [-]
I feel like you should stop while your behind. As a smoker I know there are certain places I should or shouldn't smoke.

If i'm outside the bar and some bloke beside me starts awkwardly coughing and tells me to smoke somewhere else you bet your ass i'm gonna tell him to **** off. Inside a public building is a completely different matter.
#99 to #71 - anonymous (02/01/2014) [-]
It's also illegal in most civilized countries

yes that is what I'm implying

You aren't going to have and issues from cigarettes unless you're around secondhand smoke all the time...and theres a thing called walking around people or not being near them.

Well the bitch is smoking inside a public building with fumes coming from the parking lot (they let the bitch knows but she still refuses). Basically that's a real concern of the building catching into flames. It's the same reason there's no smoking at a gas station, too much fire hazard.
User avatar #92 to #66 - weinerdick (02/01/2014) [-]
Because it's a no smoking building, with clearly-posted signs on the door, and ashtrays outside of the doors.

Isn't the gas in extinguishers poisonous? I remember something like this happening in our national Big Brother series, where the person got expelled from the villa, and they had to stay in the garden for two days.
User avatar #9 to #7 - instakill (01/31/2014) [-]
no, it's just cold as hell because it's compressed gas, and yeah I guess you could die from it if that was all you breathed, but it dissipates fast enough that it's normally not a big deal
User avatar #15 to #9 - lordofpenis (01/31/2014) [-]

Compressed gas is cold as hell?

P = F/A, hence as the area decreases (compression) the pressure increases, PV/T = constant, so the thermodynamic temperature likewise increases.
If it's an ideal gas.
Anyway, it's because it's CO2, and its boiling point is -55.6oC.

Just so you know, HS physics lesson for you.
User avatar #17 to #15 - instakill (01/31/2014) [-]
no the gas itself is not cold, but when you compress a gas down to the point it becomes a liquid (like they do in these) it chills whatever it touches because of the heat it absorbs when it goes from liquid to gas
User avatar #26 to #17 - lordofpenis (01/31/2014) [-]
Also, first law of thermodynamics; everything tends to chaos, hence a high concentration to a low concentration, down a concentration gradient. The gas will not absorb heat, rather, the high energy air molecules will transfer more kinetic energy to the walls of the container of the chamber where the gas is held, obviously it doesn't reach a thermal equilibrium since the outlet is cold. This is due to varying factors.

Anyway, changing state will require energy, hence being endogornic. Thus the temperature will increase as P = 1/3 rho * mean velocity^2 = Nm/3V using boyles law we end up with (and skipping a bit of rearranging) E = 1/2m v^2 = 1/2 N/M c^2 = 3/2 k T
The kinetic energy (rather the mean kinetic energy) is directly proportional to the thermodynamic temperature. Hence the temperature will increase. When going to a gas it will increase the temperature.
As I recollect it's compressed gas, not compressed liquid. You said so yourself.
User avatar #30 to #26 - instakill (01/31/2014) [-]
yes, because you cannot compress a liquid, though it isn't "compressed" per-se it's actually that the gas is cooled below its boiling point so it becomes a liquid and then is moved into the canister, the main reason it is cold is because it is still close to the boiling point if you spray the can for too long
User avatar #31 to #30 - lordofpenis (01/31/2014) [-]
You can compress anything if enough force is applied.
May I ask, do you do physics or maths? Just out of interest, I'm not trying to bash on you. I just recollect it differently during my course, and I had to do thermodynamics everyday.
User avatar #32 to #31 - instakill (01/31/2014) [-]
I had to do both, I took physics courses because they are fun and because of my engineering degree but because of my current major in computer science I have to take a bunch of calculus courses.
User avatar #35 to #32 - lordofpenis (01/31/2014) [-]
My friend does computer science, sounds fun but I've heard there's quite a few *tips fedora hat* types. But to be honest, we're on funnyjunk anyway, so we're not far off them.
Calculus isn't hard lol, but I don't know what you use calculus for in computer science, aside from graphs, never really developed my calculus much further than needing it for graphs, since I majored in quantum physics, minor in engineering (hence the thermodynamics)
What I found annoying was the standard model, was going through it as a mini project, well a disassociation. The maths in it were gay.

Sorry, it's just I was having trouble getting around your wording. I'm still not sure what you meant, but mild dyslexia doesn't help. Neither does autism.
User avatar #37 to #35 - instakill (01/31/2014) [-]
it's mainly understanding and using algorithms in code, all computers are, are big calculators, it's hard to explain really
User avatar #38 to #37 - lordofpenis (01/31/2014) [-]
Hence why they're called 'computers' since they compute and thus calculate lol
Better than engineering? I found engineering fun (sometimes frustrating)
User avatar #39 to #38 - instakill (01/31/2014) [-]
well I took my engineering course from a vocational high school we spent half the year on regular courses and the rest on our trade courses thus earning me the equivalent of a bachelors degrees in mechanical engineering and 3D modeling, but what I really want to do is work with computers for a living, not necessarily IT work but probably getting a job at Microsoft game labs or something
User avatar #41 to #39 - lordofpenis (01/31/2014) [-]
What most gamers dream of. As a gamer I just dream that hl3 will come out some day.
What's a vocational high school, as I've really no idea? (ukfag, I don't even know if we do that here, I just did the whole A level move onto university thing)
User avatar #42 to #41 - instakill (01/31/2014) [-]
well in some areas you can opt-out of a regular high school to go to a "private" school that gives you the training for a specific job field that you pick from in my school we had culinary arts, computer aided drafting and design, Plumbing heating and airconditioning, machining, electronics, electrical, carpentry, hairdressing, graphic design, Automotive repair, and Auto-body repair. but in return you have to go through the curriculum of the regular high schools in that area in half the time since half the year is spent learning your trade
User avatar #40 to #39 - instakill (01/31/2014) [-]
but once you really get into engineering it's all basic arrhythmic and sometimes trigonometry
User avatar #67 to #40 - lordofpenis (02/01/2014) [-]
Depending on what engineering you do. You're limited to just Newtonian physics in mechanical engineering, hence the furthest it going is trigonometry. That being said, there's a lot of calculus in Newtonian, hell a lot of maths theories in general.

I spose' It'd be no different from mechanics maths
User avatar #78 to #67 - instakill (02/01/2014) [-]
well that is handled by the CAD programs most of the time, and our handbooks also have the charts and graphs necessary to look up most things without using the math

It also absorbs the oxygen from the air around it and pulls it away from the fire, you can suffocate people with it.
User avatar #80 to #75 - instakill (02/01/2014) [-]
yes if left exposed long enough and in an enclosed space, but there would have to be a higher concentration of CO2 to oxygen in the air for around three minutes assuming they are healthy to cause a blackout and five minutes before brain damage happens

It's not the smokers business when they smoke near an asthmatic and send them into an attack.
it's not the smokers business when I have to smell gross cigarette smoke.
it's not the smokers business when they help progress my chance of getting lung cancer.

The two things you compared are nothing alike.
User avatar #200 to #196 - assrocket (02/01/2014) [-]
Most enclosed public spaces have a no smoking policy. If you hang around smokers on your own time, that's your deal. Therefore, there is very little chance of smelling the smoke, getting cancer (which can be caused by damn near anything - do you own a cellphone or aerosol sprays, perhaps?), or asthmatic attacks.

You know - unless either you or the smoker decides to be dumb about it.
User avatar #201 to #200 - capslockrage (02/01/2014) [-]
it was a no smoking zone where they were, which is what i'm talking about.
