I believe marriage should be a difficult and lengthy process, and permanent once gained. No matter what may happen, you chose to make a promise and potentially children, and that means keeping your word. TIll death do you part.

If you want to change the definition of marriage, why do you act like it's so sacred?

I dunno, I guess I just believe someones promise should mean something. We live in a world where a persons word is worth less than the dirt on the bottom of their shoes..

Someone's word has always been dependent on the person, I understand if you dislike the current state of affairs but stopping people who love each other from marrying at their leisure is just punishing the good for the deeds of the bad. But if it's any consolation, I try to make my word mean something.

in either case, I think you're wrong

If they truly loved each other a piece of paper would not matter, the risk of the act would not deter them. But if they did not..if they doubted their own love...well, if they did not love each other enough to take the time to get married, what makes them think they could weather decades of one anothers company and the difficulty therin.

I'm sorry but saying when people can and can't get married sounds just a little bit like you just want to punish people for being indecisive. Marriage isn't free, the cost of failure at marriage is an actual cost. If you're talking about regular, spiritual marriage however, you just need a witness and a priest. I guess I just don't see the point of...well, your point. Why exactly do you care that people don't stay in love forever?

Because it is just one aspect of what is wrong with current society. It is all these "little" things that "don't matter" that add up to one big problem. Unemployment, drop outs, criminals, dead beats, self entitlement, divorce, drug use, the list goes on. Each one by itself doesn't matter, but when you add them together....

Every society has it's problems, I get that. But why should a society let it happen? Why do we baby criminals, give to the greedy, reward deadbeats, and feed the lazy?

I can get that not everyone chooses these lifestyles, but more than a few do.

I would say that Unemployment, criminals and drug use aren't little things that don't matter but I can see that's not your point. Your point is that you are fed up with what you might call a Cultural Stagnation, you feel like society is getting worse and worse. But I wanna ask you another question, if you'll permit me.

I'm asking anyway

Ahem, what exactly makes you think that we baby, give to, reward and feed bad people? I assume you meant as a national problem because if you're talking about the select few who abuse the system, you're once again punishing the innocent for the crimes of the guilty.

At what point does it become worth it to tolerate the many bad, to aid the few good. Is one's life worth more than another? What about ten for one? 50? As for aiding the bad, we do it everyday. Rapists and murders get free food, healthcare, entertainment, warmth, and clothing, while men and woman who would work and contribute if they got the chance starve. That is not a minority, that is the majority. Why does the US have so many prisons? it is not just a case of "more crime", it is that criminals don't fear prison. "Oh no, please don't guarantee me three meals a day, a place to sleep, and shelter from the elements."

Alright, I'm ending this now because you just showed you have no idea what life after incarceration is like and that just means you have no idea what you are talking about. All you have is your biased, uninformed opinions and your flowery, alarmist attitude. It was a pleasure discussing with you, let me be clear but you would be better served doing some research then continuing to chat with me.

But seriously, no hard feelings

I think the equivalent of a guy bailing out would be if a girl left a baby on a doorstep and rang the bell, not an abortion.

Simple solution:

Women should have the rights to abort but if she were to keep the baby, fathers are in under no obligation to pay for child-support.

Abortion is just a red herring anyway. We can let all the idiots argue over it as much as they want, but the real answer is for people to have some ******* common sense. If you don't like abortion, don't get an abortion. It's as simple as that, the government knows that, but, as long as they can make it an argument to keep people's focus off of other things, they'll continue to bring it up.

I dislike this entire debate.

Why can't we leave it at people can, and some people shouldn't, so just let everyone decide on their own?

with that logic, a woman shouldn't be able to get an abortion without the fathers consent as well.

This would solve a lot of problems in society, but we can't keep people from being assholes (which would also solve a lot of problems in society), probably because a lot of the politicians making, and voting on these rules are assholes.

I stopped caring about abortion rights when I stopped dating ******* idiots that would have tainted my offspring's genes to the point where I'd rather kill it then birth it.
If I get knocked up now, at least it'll be a smart kid.

Then we can make men abandoning pregnant women legal if we make abortion legal? Okay.

actually that makes sense. What if a woman got pregnant and didn't want ti, but the man did want the child. Legalizing abortion would make it possible for the woman to simply get rid of the unwanted child without the man (who wants the child) having a say. So why should we deny men the right to walk out of such an incident?

but in a world where abortion is an option, what if the man wanted the girl to get an abortion but the girl didn't. the choice to keep a baby should be just as much the guys choice as it is the girl's if she expects him to be a father for it. the only difference is that it's the girl who has to carry the child.

There's a big difference between ending a life, and ending financial support for it. But I agree children should be raised by both. I think if we loosened adoption laws there would be fewer abortions.
