so by the same logic:
if abortion is legal, men should have no responsibilities if they choose not to be the father. Even without having to kill the unborn child.
User avatar #14 to #9 - noblexfenrir (01/18/2014) [-]
Well technically they should be able to do that, they can't but while I support abortion I also think it would be an amazing idea if men also had the ability to have a "legal abortion". Basically, they have the same period as a woman does to get rid of the fetus, to opt out of being the father. Basically you sign away all parental rights current and in the future, and as a result you aren't forced to pay child support and what not when the child is had.

Would solve alot of peoples problems to be honest.
#15 to #14 - klutzyspy ONLINE (01/18/2014) [-]
yes cus the problem is that men dont get any choices except "dont stick your dick in anything"...

User avatar #16 to #15 - noblexfenrir (01/18/2014) [-]
Well the main problem doesn't exactly stem from the fact that both parties had sex, we generally understand that people can **** up, and even then those on the pro-abortion side of the argument generally have a good idea of why the fetus is perfectly fine to be aborted.

I just feel that anyone that is pro-abortion should also allow the time limit in which a woman is not legally binded to the potential child, to be extended to the man as well.

Although I do agree, I would like to see more legal options for men in this scenario than simply "wait for final decision from female partner", however I'll be the first to admit it's a difficult subject to do that with.

it's called signing over your parental rights.
User avatar #49 - timmywankenobi (01/18/2014) [-]
Women have all the reproductive rights they can use any of literally 100 different forms/brands/methods of conception, they alone decide to keep the child or abort it and they can still choose to abandon the baby at no cost any time after it is born no questions asked "no money required ever" and the woman can decide to give the child to a relative if she wants or the father and she will never be required to pay child support by the government if she doesn't want to in fact 98% of non custodial mothers do not pay any child support at ******* all. Legally she doesn't even have to tell the father about the child's existence if she doesn't want to. The only choice the man get is wear a condom or get a vasectomy and never have kids.

I can't wait until the male birth control pill is released on the market.
#38 - trickytrickster (01/18/2014) [-]
The opposite is true though. Women can back out of pregnancy but a man can't. A man has no say in whether or not a baby is born. If he doesn't want the kid, he has to pay child support for 18 years regardless.
#10 - anonymous (01/17/2014) [-]
So, as long as abortion is legal, I should not be forced to pay child support. How come this is not true?
That's why I need machism.
User avatar #127 - payseht (01/18/2014) [-]
I've never been on the other side of the fence when it comes to abortion because I made up my mind quick which is a mistake. What is the best argument against abortion?
Besides it's killing a human being. It's not. It's a bunch of cells with the potential of becoming a human being. There are natural abortions all the time, like the cell didn't attach to the uterus and is flushed out come next period.
User avatar #126 - darksideofthebeast (01/18/2014) [-]
No, if someone tells me they're on birth control and they get pregnant.
They can **** right off, I would care about my kid, not my hoe girlfriend.

If anything, if parents leave, they should at least support the child if they leave.
Because it is your child.
User avatar #115 - loganhusted ONLINE (01/18/2014) [-]
Lets start with the content. It is already Illegal for men to abandon their child, weather or not it is voluntary. It is called child support and if men don't pay they go to jail. In fact it is also technically illegal for men to exit most divorces, again willingly or unwillingly thanks to alimony. In California if you get a divorce you are expected to pay alimony for life.

My thoughts. Men should have and really need the same things that women already have when it comes to reproductive rights. We need a form of birth control that we can use and we need the ability to legally surrender all parental rights and obligations to a child. Women already have both of these things. You would get crucified by society if you told a women that she couldn't get an abortion and instead should have kept it in her pants. Why should men be any different.

This would accomplish a number of things. it would give men some agency over reproduction which we don't currently have other than not participating at all. The number of abortions and children put up for adoption would go down. with 20 years worth of income on the line I'm fairly positive no man would "accidentally" forget to take his birth control. It would also reduce the number of single mother. Because women would be held responsible to provide for the child which they currently are not. The man and the government take care of children that women have out of wedlock. Statistically.

These measures would help with overpopulation, poverty, government aid dependence, reduce the size of the state and federal government due to the decrease in revenue from (divorce/child support/ alimony), less children growing up in single mother households which have been shown to increase their risk for all sorts of things from drug use to psychological problems, and many more.

That is pretty much my thoughts on the topic.
User avatar #216 to #115 - nigeltheoutlaw (01/18/2014) [-]
Don't you only have to pay alimony if the woman is unemployed?

There's a male birth control pill in the works, but it will probably be 3-10 years before it's perfected and accepted by the FDA. Preliminary results seem promising, though I have no idea why it took so many years for anybody to bother with birth control options for men. Women have two types of pills, IUDs, implants, shots, patches, rings, sponges, caps, and diaphrams, while all men have aside from condoms are vasectomies, which are a lot more invasive and permanent than should be for a birth control option.

I agree with your further thoughts, but I would go further and say that a man should have no obligation to the child if he decides he doesn't want it prior to birth, as well as him having an equal say in abortion. A woman shouldn't be able to abort a baby without the father's consent, she should have the child and give it to him, and a woman shouldn't be able to force a man to take care of a child that he wanted to have aborted. I normally disagree heartily with people that claim that women have it easier than men, but when it comes to birth control, abortion, and child support, they not only have it easier but they have all the power.
User avatar #314 to #216 - loganhusted ONLINE (01/18/2014) [-]
I think that women have had it "easier" thought human history. In fact I would even argue that now is the closest men and women have ever been on the who has it easier scale. Men and women have always had their own problems but Women have had their problems taken seriously.

>well, why did you have unprotected sex?
>omfg i do what i want you creep!
>well.. since its your body cant you choose to not have sex, therefore making the pregnancy 100% your fault and now we have a reason to make abortion illegal?
>what about rape omfg! u sexist ass!
less than 1% of abortions are a result of rape/sexual assault.Stupid people. You talk about a woman's right to terminate a baby, yet deny the fact that a live human being is growing inside of her. "but its not a human!!!" yeah, no **** , its not a walking, talking human being who sometimes listens to dubstep on his way to work. Its human in the sense that its the offspring of two humans. which makes it human. just in the very early stages of life. *drinks liberal tears*

also eeg means the order of electric pulses that pump your heart. i think their is a total of 5. im not sure. anatomy class was a while ago.

So.. what that picture also says that I can go around falcon punching women through their vaginas because im not "killing anything" im disposing of it.

also.. the law is contradictory in the sense that "brain dead" means their is no activity or neuron activation in the brainstem. if you look on a grown human scale yes thats true, but fetuses also have brain activity its just not measurable. so no. theyre not brain dead. it is literally impossible for mammals to die, and rise from the dead. the brain can only survive without oxygen for 3 minutes, and the first trimester of pregnancy lasts 3 months.

check mate, faggit

1. No, fagot EEGs have to do with your head. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroencephalography

2. Technically it depends how preggo they are, but if you do so before the fetuses gain any EEGs, then no you are not killing anything. It's still rude though.

3. "fetuses also have brain activity its just not measurable." proof it fagit.

4." it is literally impossible for mammals to die, and rise from the dead." Nuh-uh. Jesus did it. But in all seriousness, Shutup. We both know you're trolling, nobody's that stupid. If the fetus is removed before it gets to live then it was never alive to begin with.

5."the brain can only survive without oxygen for 3 minutes, and the first trimester of pregnancy lasts 3 months. " Another troll answer. notice the cord hooked up to the parasite/fetuses belly, feeding it all its oxygen and nutritional needs.

6. You think it's checkmate but you forgot about my trapcard.

The fetus has no aspirations, no dreams, no future plans, NO SENTIENCE. And while your fictitious woman might also not have said dreams, other women do, and for making what is a relatively small mistake, they should not have to be punished so severely.

I'm pro-choice.
also, child support is a thing.

I firmly believe in some kind of birthing approving system. it would help with over population, affirm partners will stay together (or at least active) in the child's life, financial stability, etc

well I'm christian and so is my wife and we both agree there should be a process. people like my sister keep popping out kids for bigger welfare checks. she has 8 now, and the doctor refused to deliver this last one unless she signed an agreement that they could fix her while she was still under, right after the kid came out. and they did. she would not have stopped having kids, I can promise that... I hate people like her, who don't love their kids or provide for them, they just ride them like cash cows. :/
the oldest has some serious socializing issues and scares the **** out of me... she is so ******* creepy.

User avatar #290 - capslockrage ONLINE (01/18/2014) [-]
It is illegal, that's why they have to pay child support.
#261 - anonymous (01/18/2014) [-]
same goes for if any of the 2 involved DO NOT want the kid then it should be mandatory to get rid of the fetus.

cus the way things are now, if a woman doesnt want to keep the child nobody gives a flying **** about the father, the child gets aborted.
If however she decides to keep the child no1 gives 2 flying ***** what the father wants.
So unless youre not completely full of **** "all women", then shut the **** up about equality! because women want superiority and dominance over men, they couldnt give less of a **** about equality!

while i agree that abortion should be legal i find this abhorent
think about it when it comes to pregnancy
a women can chose to take the pill
after sex she can take the morning after pill
during pregnancy she (should be able to) can get an abortion
after childbirth she can put the baby up for adoption
basicaly the woman has a huge amount of choice and options on whether or not she will be a mother
the mans options start and end with will he use a condom
if that condom fails or doesnt work in anyway he has no choice in the matter
if that women wants to keep the baby then that guy is paying child suport regardless if he wants to or not because he has no say at all
if the women doesnt want the child but the man does well tough **** because he has no say in anything after the condom
