I was once watching an international football match between Scotland and Ireland, and throughout the whole game the most common and prominent chant from both sets of fans was, "we hate England more than you!"

Maybe I was wrong then, but a lot of Scots do seem to hold resentment to us Angles.

We don't hate the English, it's a friendly rivalry (For the majority, of course some people do hate them down to the bone, as I'm sore some English will feel for the Scottish)

Politically wise, I do prefer the SNP to all other parties.

I've never met a Scottish person who heard my English accent and reacted any differently to me because of it. Even when I went to patrol a Rangers V Celtic game as part of an Officer exchange scheme, both sides (almost all of them) were equally nice to me, despite knowing I'm English.

I come from Northern Ireland and despite the differences and conflict between catholics and protestants, there is one thing that we can all agree on as a ****** up little nation and that's how much of a big fat bastard Stephen Nolan is.

By the way- is Scotland as bad as everyone says? People act like it's a third world country (incorrect usage of the term), and I just can't imagine a nation of mostly white people living in absolute poverty.

Nah, only the most deprived inner city areas are a mess, most of it is similar to any other European country.

Nah man, it's just the same as any big city's there's areas of poverty that you should avoid but other than that it's a beautiful place. Especially up North. Also we got Irn Bru which is amazing

if you're talking about Glasgow, then yes it's just one big ghetto. However, Scotland has a wonderful country side if a little bit rainy and Edinburgh is a nice little city regardless of the mass hauntings. However this is coming from an englishman who's never been. it'd be like a black guy walking through Mississippi in the 1920's

Take out Bearsden and the West End, then its one big ghetto.
Well not so much now, since jersey shore appeared there's been less NEDS and more people with polka dot shirts and side-shed haircuts.
So before 2010 it was pretty much one big ghetto. Now theres just the few places that failed to regenerate. Like the Gorbals, Govan, Easterhouse and Ibrox.

Im not saying NEDS are great guys, but its better than the fannies with the false accents. The polka dot shirts seem to think they're better than you, NEDS beat people because they think you're better than them.

Scotland isn't that bad at all to be honest. It's mostly just places like Glasgow and Edinburgh that suffer the most from poverty. I'm not saying all places.. just some places.

No, not true at all, It's just like any other first world country/city, and whoever said that Glasgow was 1 big ghetto is ******* stupid and do not have a clue.

Being from Glasgow, it is not one big ghetto! But a lot of Pakistanis and the likes do like to go about shouting 'BRAAAAAP, I'M FROM THE GHETTO'... I think thats were the confusion has came from.

Third world wise, well we have houses made of bricks, electricity, toilets (they are even them inside ones!!) and some of the cleanest drinking water in the world... so no, thats not true

Living with people who are actually from 'third-world' societies in Glasgow University accommodation, I can tell you they think that our country is ******* amazing. We have free prescriptions and access to Higher Education, it's only your living costs you need a loan for. The city is tiny so has a lot of space and greenery, plus the history. I know how lucky I am to be born and raised in this country, the system never failed me because I took advantage. There's a large 'ned' culture yeah, but these are just the scottish version of the stereotypical welfare claimants in america. Drunken YOBs who engage in petty crime and drug use. It's a different kind of poverty experienced here because the government helps out so much, therefore (theoretically) so long as one uses the system they should never fall down too deep.

People apply that to Glasgow, and I've never lived there myself, but it's actually a pretty normal city if you compare it to most European cities I've found.

Here in America we just hate eachother based on sports teams. For instance I am a Michigan Wolverine fan my family is from Michigan, so I just hate Ohio, it is in my blood. Every Christmas when my mom makes buckeyes I throw them on the ground and stomp on them I just ******* hate Ohio so much.

The whole "United Kingdom" concept is a load of bollocks. Scotland for the Scots, Wales for the Welsh, Ireland for the Irish, Britain for the British. I'm sick of this creeping collectivism. Nationalism doesn't always mean you're a skinhead thug who beats up foreigners.
