My best friend is a fanboy. He has Total war shogun, Napoleon, and the first rome one.
User avatar #160 to #92 - thegrimreaver (12/30/2013) [-]
Boy howdy, he sure is a fanboy to have all of those! Pack it up everyone, no one else will be as hardcore as this kid's friend.
User avatar #219 to #160 - inuares (12/30/2013) [-]
apparently I typed absentmindedly. He behaves as a fanboy and will not shut up about the total wars that he plays. He claims to have beaten each one at least 5 times each.

ive had all the total wars

this is no accomplishment

its hardly enough...

would like to see one with China, maybe as an expansion to Rome 2 so the Han can fight the Romans, East vs. West

CA is working on Empire again. with any luck they give up upgrading the original andgive us a fresh one

Personally, if they're redoing some of the old ones, I'd like to see Medieval 3.
User avatar #356 to #350 - wotterpatch ONLINE (12/31/2013) [-]
i kinda want one that covers all the empire genres. it would cause some unbalances though. theyd need to add overextension and coring and shit like that
User avatar #358 to #356 - thegrimreaver (01/01/2014) [-]
What do you mean "all the empire genres"?
User avatar #359 to #358 - wotterpatch ONLINE (01/01/2014) [-]
all the total war games based out of europe. i'd kill for a contiguous game starting in the age of rome and ending in like 1800 or whenever empire ended
User avatar #360 to #359 - thegrimreaver (01/01/2014) [-]
So, essentially what you want is Civilization: Total War? An interesting idea, but I really think it'd not be all that feasible. You'd have to have a massive tech-tree like in Civilization, but limit it's speed, so you're not fielding muskets and artillery by 1200 AD or so. Also, I'm not sure how you'd adjust the game to major events like the fall of the Roman Empire, which is a pretty big deal in the scheme of history. That's why the games show all the various eras when the empires were coming to the height of their glory. People want to conquer the world and create the empire, not watch it disintegrate in front of them.
User avatar #361 to #360 - wotterpatch ONLINE (01/02/2014) [-]
well what i thought was have technology unlock at certain years like in victoria 2 to prevent tech spamming. Also i was thinking having the map grow gradually after certain events or times like in the United states campaign in Empire.

that would be cool but knowing CA they wouldn never make something like that although maybe just one set in china

I really don't like those kinds of games, they teach that war is a fun game when it's sick and wrong......

What's the difference between Civ and Total War? I haven't actually seen any gameplays, but hearing a lot about these two games around here. They sound interesting. Oh, and Civ is Civilization right?

Total War is a turn based strategy, lets you rule an empire on a campaign map and zoom in on battles and contyou courol units, CIV is turn based but no indiviual battle mode, you could say it's more like Age of Mythology/Empires

Total war focuses more on, well, warmaking and tactics. It also has a real time aspect to it, you have the option of commanding armies on the battlefield in real time, while the rest of the game is handled on a turn by turn basis.
Civilization focuses on everything else much more. It's more in depth, has more technology trees, but has no tactical aspects to it. War in civilization is all about having the best economy

I love the fact of how they included the SPQR in the back learned about what it meant in Social Studies

Fucking love Total War (disappointed that Rome 2 is kinda' junky for most people's PC's, including my own, but it's still a fucking awesome game.)
I don't fit into any of those, I'd consider myself a fanboy, but I don't do so well on the hardest difficulty. Also, I love Civilizations as well, the two games are so different you might as well not even compare them.
#197 - knovar (12/30/2013) [-]

Civ and Total War belong to different genres though
User avatar #178 - zomaru ONLINE (12/30/2013) [-]
I much prefer Civ. I don't have the ref;exes to react as quickly as pessary in Total War, I barely make it in Wargame.
But Civ. I can Macro-manage the shit outta that game, Let the plebeians do their battles, Wile the true men run the cities and Economy.
User avatar #177 - mrdrpage (12/30/2013) [-]
This is pretty much the case with every single video game.
