You guys are so guillible... Yea, he made a few changes in his appearance, but the church behind him is the same anti-abortion, anti-gay couples, anti-contraception bigoted *********** it has always been.

I swell with argentinian pride every time I see the positive view the internet has of the pope.

Which is sadly then trampled by the shame braught upon us by the whore who calls herself president.
User avatar #231 - gmanofwonder (11/24/2013) [-]
Well, the whole idea of the Vatican is directly against what Jesus Christ was for.
I mean, Jesus would be out in barracks or something, and the Pope should be the same.

Not saying this pope isn't great. He's making a great difference, but really no pope has ever been fully righteous or charitable with their money like any of the prophets.
#230 - darthblam (11/24/2013) [-]
A rather impressive sense of humility in this man. While I don't agree with the religion I do have to give him a bit of respect.
For a religion based around a kind, self-sacrificing, common man most churches and higher ups seem to relish in having a lot of bling to show off their "faith".

if i was a pope i would probably have a lazy boy

this is who he was before. if you read about him before. i think i feel he's genuine because he reminded me of me. whenever i got awards i got kind of didn't like it unless it was a team kind of thing. one time at work we were at a team building retreat to help each other be closer and in the middle my boss calls me over to give me an award for stepping up and helping and stuff. I wasn't embarassed or anything I just really hated that she singled me out on a team building thing. I found it offensive

I'm sure reading this from the other end made me sound conceited or something but truthfully just trying to represent that sometimes bragging and accepting gifts is the last thing on people's minds.

I think you have to distance yourself from the European American ideal of what is right and what is wealth. He's the first pope outside of europe. his ideals are different i believe. And at his age I dont believe him to be seeking wealth or that this is a publicity act. Consistency throughout his life of being a good person tells me he's legit

If the anti christ were real id put my money on him, just cause he seems so good. And everybody likes him so much.

meanwhile jehovas witnesses are building a 100% eco friendly world headquarters from pure voulantary donations and workers even protecting local endangered wildife such as the Timberland rattlesnake, but yeah, nice pope.
#249 to #213 - Womens Study Major (11/24/2013) [-]
.... Uh, yeah, a lot of people that happen to belong to many different religions do good things. What's your point? Jehova's Witnesses are so different from Catholics (and I'd argue even other denominations) that it's almost a separate religion.

#353 to #352 - carlsagouin (11/25/2013) [-]
If you're gonna give up then don't call me an idiot before you declare it's over. You're just proving you're one, by doing so.
But I guess everyone who doesn't agree with you is an idiot.
Stay mad, sheeple.

Right.
Nothing is getting through that cobweb-filled, steel-coated mess of paranoia and delusion you call a skull. So there's absolutely no point in even arguing anymore.
It makes me sad to know people like you exist in this world.
Have fun glorifying yourself you pretentious prick. I'm out.
#355 to #354 - carlsagouin (11/25/2013) [-]
All these random, meaningless words you think are working... Ha ha. Stop being so rude, it won't make you right.
Didn't you say "end of the story" ?
And who's glorifying himself, exactly ? Where, during this whole exchange, did you see that ? I told you your methods don't work. Start using real arguments since you want to convince me that bad.

I would take this more seriously if people strictly followed the christian faith or something

but they don't.

Everyone let's all praise the pope for being a good guy! Isn't he supposed to be a really, really good guy? Seriously.

We care because he's being what he's supposed to, unlike the previous popes and Catholic bureaucracy as a whole.
User avatar #225 to #198 - slumberdonkey (11/24/2013) [-]
I'm saying that the fact that popes in the past have been so bad is kinda the most ridiculous thing ever. Shouldn't the pope always be the nicest person ever? Isn't that how he gets to become the pope? How have the popes been chosen up to this point?
#345 to #225 - iamphoenix (11/24/2013) [-]
It's hard to be a good Christian and in a position of power by the nature of a bureaucracy. It's not even so much that the Pope has been bad, there's just a lot of institutional inertia and he's at the head of a ******** organization. Even though he should be a moral standard, there's a lot against him and seeing somebody who manages humility and selflessness in that job is not common.
User avatar #347 to #345 - slumberdonkey (11/25/2013) [-]
Maybe the guy who makes all of the moral decisions for half of the western world shouldn't be the leader of a nation state. Maybe they should have thought of that A LONG ******* TIME AGO. Also, there's a difference between "it's hard to be good" and "shhh, we can't let anyone find out that some of our priests molest the children of the congregation" or "sure, hitler, you can keep doing that whole 'jew killing' thing"

I am an atheist in the same way the late Christopher Hitchens was, but I have to say I like Pope Francis.
