Slytherin should win the house cup.
Unfortunately, I am the headmaster of hogwarts.

Honestly Gryfindor did deserve to win. I don't remember any other houses defeating a dark wizard that year.

That really has nothing to do with the point system, though. Hermione lost points when she ****** up and went after the troll.
Sure, they all did good in defeating Voldemort, but it wasn't exactly something the points should have been involved with.

the points made **** all sense and I don't think we ever hear of them again after the first book and the victory doesn't seem to actually do anything for anyone.

I guess the way they were supposed to be awarded was you get points for good deeds and answering questions correctly and lose points for bad deeds and breaking the rules which in my opinion doesn't really make any sense because apparently Raven claw has the smartest students and Hufflepuff has the most well behaved students so it makes no sense that the two houses who are notorious for breaking the rules and focusing on things outside of their studies would win every house cup ever awarded.

Although yeah Griffindor did deserve to win seeing as how 'stopping a mass genocide' qualifies as a good deed + they lost a ton of points for Hermione answering questions correctly and Harry doing good deeds.

Is it just me or is it that only the first book/ movie that they actually did care about points and winning the house cup because in the rest of them it was not mentioned once. I think they just didnt care after winning it there freshman year.
