Yeah except I hate Pete Doherty just as much as I hate Lady Gaga. The over-the-top, self-aggrandizing antics are just as annoying regardless of gender or genre.

No one has any idea what a rock star is nowadays, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie and Robert Plant were rock stars. She's just a pop star with a career built on crappy gimmicks and stupid costumes.

Oh don't start, there is no arguing she doesn't have a great voice, whether you don't like it. Rock has evolved, not changed. I'm not saying I don't like old rock, because I DO. It's ******* great. Her "costume" are just more Avant Garde pieces of art. I think they're quite nice actually.

You don't have really any reason to hate her, I mean, if it was Justin Bieber, SURE, I mean he has done horrible things. But her? I mean she's a damn activist. Give her props at least. I'm not saying you have to like her music. But she IS talented.

Every time I say anything about LG some guy says "shes got a good voice, she can play the piano", so what? I know people who have good voices and play the piano but they're not famous, there's plenty of people out there FAR superior to her and are not famous. Point is most people know her for what she does offstage rather than her music, like walking around the street and letting people feel her tits, what was the point in that? If she's so talented why doesn't she use her 'skills' to better use other than pretty generic pop music. And for the love of God don't say money.

"Far superior". Your definition of "far superior" might not be the same for others. I think releasing pop music is smart on her part, people like pop music today, and why not? Some of it is ******* great. Not all of it is emotionless tunes. She sells what people want to buy. And on the side she makes amazing music. It also may be managers telling her to do that. Which isn't rare amongst most artist (Just search up Ke$ha's "Goodbye", you'll be shocked.) I agree, some of her song are too upbeat (I personally enjoy Indie Folk, Classic rock, and Broadway, so it's a little odd to listen to hers.) But some have deeper meaning.

I mean, why do you have to hate her if you know, she's not doing anything bad? I don't like One Direction music, but I don't hate them. (Hate the fans though..)

I'm just saying, a LOT of people play piano and have good voices, Lady Gaga being one of them, but just because she has more cred than your friends doesn't mean you should hate her. Or dislike her, or whatever your feelings are.

I didn't say at any point I hate her, I dislike her because she's famous for things other than her music and that isn't what a MUSICIAN is supposed to be famous for, she's just another money maker for the industry, it doesn't matter because no one will remember in a decade anyway.

I said "or whatever your feelings are." She's famous for her weird style, so was Madonna, Elton John, Liberace, etc etc. Really, just open your mind, she's a LGBT advocate, and started a foundation for youth empowerment, also aiding victims in the Haiti earthquake.. Jesus Christ, she wants to make a change, helping people. And I'm sure beyond belief she will be remembered, she stepped out of the box for fashion (As an artist myself I think it's impressive, fashion and confidence.) She enjoys what she does. And she loves the way she is. Personally I think she seems like a sweet person all together.

Point still stand her music is mediocre and all you're doing is showing that she's famous for anything other than it. There's millions of people who help homeless who don't have to have pictures took of them while they're doing it, she can do what ever she likes, she's a celeb, not a musician.

Apologies to the thumbs up, it was originally a hand slip as thumbs down (I know that sounds like the worst excuse ever, but **** happens, y'know?) So I put thumbs up. *Canadian mode*

God, that sounds stupid repeating it, but oh well.

Not her song, but still. She's famous for her voice too, I have no idea where the hell you're getting your sources.
And yes, there is also dying african children. Shame on you for not helping! She gets pictures because she's famous, that's the world, hun. Picture are taken of the workers out there doing these things. But they're not individual.
Most musicians are celebs, kind of like how all rectangles are squares but not all squares are rectangles.

clearly people don't understand what rock is.

heavy, grungey sounds or guitars doesnt make the music rock. the genre of rock also isnt limited to being in a band or making that generic specific sound you hear on the radio.

Rock is the Feeling you elicit from your audience. Rock is the movement you create when you make/perform your music.

i am not a fan of this woman, and her genre is pop/electric/ whatever she wants it to be. But if you can recall, the beatles are considered rock. and so is guns and roses. and when van halen first put " you really got me" on the radio it was considered heavy metal.

elvis was the king of rock, micheal jackson was the king of pop.
i would still call micheal a rock star

i hope this clears somthing up. if not i may not know what im talking about.

I don't think you can say people don't understand what rock is followed by your view/opinion on the subject which clearly shows a tendency to change overtime, meaning it's dynamic and extremely circumstance-based.
That's not what rock is, that's how you view it and it really has nothing to do with what others think. The other problem is you're completely ignoring the eventuality of new genres/sub-genres which didn't have a name at the time so they just labelled them as rock.
Clearly other people have a different definition of what rock is and you can't say they are wrong for thinking that considering how loose your own definition appears to be.

i dont really know what rock is, other than jsut somthing to rock out but i wrote this becuase i saw too many comments that were mad because she is being labled a rock star. my personal veiw on waht rock is was only to describe through experience that this isnt as limited as those comments said.

rock is fun.

That's your opinion. In mine, rock is not fun and it is just as, if not more limited than what the other comments said. Genres have a structure and specific criteria must be met in order for a song to be part of one specific genre. Just like everything else in life, you can define it and categorize it so that you can find other things that are similar to it.

To everyone saying she should be called a popstar; don't we call all sorts of people rock stars? Not just because of the music they make but for everyday things that they do really really well? I know I've heard people be called rock stars without any link to music.
